Kirk Franklin pulls a joel osteen on gay marriage and porn

In a weird, bizarre, embarrassing, evasive, uncomfortable Joel Osteen way, gospel music industry worker Kirk Franklin pointedly avoided answering direct questions about homosexuality in the church and porn issues.

Franklin had been “under fire” from homosexual activists who were angry because he was paid $80,000 by the DC government to perform there.

So much for the faux cockiness mask Franklin wears when he’s in front of church audiences. Several years ago, with Donnie McClurkin at his side, he pumped it up for the church folks in a pit bull type rebuke [video] gospel artists “lifestyles” (read:homosexuality). But in this video, Franklin sounds and appears downright scared.

Watch for yourself.

Did he answer ANY of the questions he was asked? It seemed like he kept blaming the church for being “police” and pointing to the fact that we’re all sinners but never spoke about salvation from sin, how to get it or who it’s found in. No specific words on what the Bible says about homosexuality or anything. He tried so hard not to talk about homosexuality exclusively that he almost made it sound like “Well we all sin and that’s all. The end. ” C’Mon, Kirk. You’re leaving out the most important part.

Hi Tim. You got it! The question basically was do you think homosexuality is wrong. VERY simple. ALL Kurt had to say was what the bible says. So easy. Instead, he made it about what it wasn’t about. Sway was on a specific topic which required a simple & specific answer. We know that the bible condemns all sin; murder, lying, adultery, etc. No brainer on that one. How do you feel about the gay lifestyle? That was the question & he did everything in his power to not answer the the question. I’ve noticed that people like him always draw other things into the conversation. It’s not about other sins, which ARE just as damnable by the way. If you ask about a specific question about pineapples, you don’t start talking about strawberries, unless you don’t want to offend people who have an affinity for pineapples. Hypothetically say, if pineapples were poisonous & you knew this, WHY ON EARTH WOULD YOU NOT WARN PEOPLE TO STAY AWAY FROM PINEAPPLES?!!! If homosexuality is wrong, & sorry kids but it is, then why not just say what the bible says & let the Holy Ghost take care of the rest? This is one of those scenarios where you CAN’T be all things to all people or compromise. Stand on the truth. That’s all Sway was asking Kurt to do. Tragically, but not uncommon which is equally if not more tragic, Kurt fell short.

There was a time when people like Kurt were the end all, be all for me because I saw them as being at the forefront so to speak. They wouldn’t be there if God didn’t put them there, right? The platform they have is evidence of God’s touch on their lives. How many people tuned in to this show hoping for answers to their dilemma & came away empty because “brotha Kurt” was afraid to speak the truth? Can’t really blame him though. It’s so obvious that he doesn’t really know the truth. How can you give me something that you don’t have? If I’ve said it a thousand times, here’s the thousand & one: a lot of the giw (gospel industry workers) are singing about a God they don’t know. They’re no more converted than the people they’re supposed to be “ministering” to. There are exceptions but mostly these artist are craving acknowledgment from the world. They don’t want to come of as to preachy or policing. They claim to be servants of God but by their words & deeds they reveal another agenda. Lord, please have mercy.

Me too, Basil. I used to trust that Kirk, Mary Mary and Fred Hammond knew the way and they were God-approved because they were doing so well, but when God opened my eyes and showed me that all of the pimp and circumstance were not necessary to live for Him, I began to see differently. I just pay that record sales do not become the motivation over the Holy Spirits guidance for them OR for us.

And they have pulled the video. The explanation points most likely to Franklin demanding the radion station take down the video because it didnt get his permission to post it. What a double whammy coward.

It appears that Bro. Kirk is bolder in a room full of Christians than he is in a room full of unbelievers (assuming that Sway and crew don’t believe. I have never listened to them). It’s just a question. What can they do to him? We’re not even to the point of getting thrown into jail or anything and already we’re afraid?

Wow a lot of brave peopler speaking up. Of course your faces r not being shown, and u r safely at your computers. and your lifestyles r not and can not be examined by those that read your comments. You can say that would have boldly proclaimed the truth, but you may have done just as Franklin did. Or u may have done just as the apostle Peter did when he denied Christ thrice. And for those that question Franklin’s salvation when Christ arose he told the women to tell the Apostles and Peter to meet him.

              • Tim says:

@ Marsha You are correct to say that I’m safe in my comments here since this forum is FOR those that homosexuality is biblically wrong. You are also correct to point out that my life is not being watched like Kirk’s may be. I agree with you. But what should also be pointed out is that Kirk Franklin is a well known, international star known for being a follower of Christ, who sings about the Word of God being the most important thing in his life. Who should be indwelt by the Holy Spirit if he is a believer. Who has preached at his concerts AND on national television. Should be now be afraid of a few folks on a radio show? When Peter denied Christ, he was NOT indwelt by the Holy Spirit. He was NOT a well known preacher or singer who had been doing so for years. He was working out of his flesh. And yes he was forgiven by Christ as Kirk will be also but look at the change in Peter in Acts after he and the others were filled. Only once after that did he waiver (when he would not eat with the gentiles) and he was rebuked by Paul. Now Paul said “I’m dead to sin; yet I live. Yet not I live, but Christ lives through me.” This should be true of all Christians. Especially them that continue to speak out publically. Living for God before the world is tough. We must deny ourselves, take up of crosses and follow Jesus. Anyone who’s not willing to do this might want to take a seat in the congregation and God will raise up another. That’s the point of this. I still hold out hope for Kirk but the world needs sound doctrine preached and Jesus proclaimed. Not waivering celebrities. May God give me grace when my turn comes.

I didn’t do what Franklin did. I withstood my Professor, college mates and gay “Pastors” when I was in college on this very issue. It was only me and one other Christian, and he was too disgusted to discuss the word of a God with them. Some of my class mates thought I should not receive my degree, verbalizing this, because my chosen profession involved counseling others. I mistreated the gays in my class, but I did offend them with the truth of God’s word. I told them that all sin has the same exact consequence and remedy. At the end of the course, even the Prof had to admit I was harmless as a dove (not her words, but how I conducted myself before them. She said I was “fair” in my outlook). I was set up in situations to test my metal. They thought they were being sly, but the Holy Spirit was informing on them well in advance. I received my degree. God was with me in my stand for the truth even though I and the other Christian were the outcasts of this group. There were other professing Christians who accepted homosexuality as being alright. I could not allow the opportunity to pass, because Jesus died for them the same as he died for me, to set us free. Jesus loves them as he loves me. I had to show them I was not afraid of them. It’s a long story. To the point, don’t assume people are hiding behind computers, because some of us are laying down our lives and taking up our crosses, and trusting god with our lives GLADLY. I am redeemed, and thus GRATEFUL. I am daily learning to put off the old man; she doesn’t want to die so easily; yet, I cannot make excuses for her nor anyone else. I know what I stand to gain and what I stand to lose. What I want for myself, eternal life, is what I want for others, because of God’s love. Therefore, I am compelled to tell the truth, no matter how offensive. The truth is what frees us. If Franklin avoids the truth before man (is ashamed or afraid) he will have to answer to God for this. Truth walking isn’t easy, but it’s right. “None of us are perfect” is a cop out answer. We know we have all sinned, and fallen short. That’s a given, but we have not all been blood washed. All have not laid hold onto eternal life. God calls perfect, the man that strives for God’s heart; who love the ways of God. Love is the bond of perfectness (it is written), and when we share God’s word with others, even when they disagree, then that is loving God and our neighbor as ourselves. I fear God also, for he said if I am ashamed of him before man, or deny him, he will do the same to me before his Father. I don’t want Jesus as my enemy, and it doesn’t have to be.

        • L. Davis says:

“I just pay [sic] that record sales do not become the motivation over the Holy Spirits guidance for them…” WHAT?! Jesus said, “the love of money is the root of all evil.” That is the main reason why they compromise, “thinking gain is godliness”. If they were listening to the Holy Spirit to begin with, they would NOT be doing most of what they are doing. They have forsakened, “Deny yourself, pick up your cross and follow me”; they love this present world. They are what the word of a god calls, “STRANGE CHILDREN” or “BASTARDS AND NOT SONS”, because they refuse the chastening of God. We are all tempted of evil by Satan, but the weak are commanded to say, I am strong”; the saints are warned to, “resist the devil and he will flee”, and to pray, “and lead us not into temptation. But if we do fall, we are to quickly repent which means to turn away our hearts from following after that evil thing with Godly sorrow. We don’t justify ours or others SIN, in our witness of Christ in any form. These filthy dreamers like Kirk will not take a stand for Christ in boldness and righteousness, for “the righteous are as bold as a lion”, because they are of the world, and the world loves their own. No one can convince me that you cannot tell the truth in love and power in demonstration of the Holy Ghost, but since these weasels are trying to preserve their life (style) they are going to lose it in the end, if they do not repent and do their first works over. My guess is, that they were always hirelings sent amongst the sheep to lead them astray. I have fallen short since being saved, but I do not make it a lifestyle. I do not make excuses for my flesh, and I certainly agree with all of the Father’s Divinely inspired Word. Only a few are going to make it in, and he that hath this hope maketh himself PURE even as He is pure.

  2. Bishop Elisha De Leon says:

It is funny when people look at what you might lose. When you don’t speak what you preach seems to me you don’t believe what you speak…This my friend smells like unbeliever. Oh well look at the money it might be the one talking…
Sin is sin no matter what the world says. Its in the Bible if you read it.

  3. Chavis Greenard says:

This dude TAPPED DANCE ALL AROUND THE QUESTIONS!!

  4. Denise Stewart says:

Interesting that he mentioned the “love of money.” Could that be one of the reasons he has compromised the gospel? The bible refers to homosexuality as an abomination and an unnatural use of the body.

Wow Kirk! You would have been much better off not to say anything at all. Have you gained the world and given up your soul?

I purchased one of his CDs a long time ago but now you could not give me one.

    Repent and be forgiven!

    • Ms. Tina says:

I was thinking the exact same thing! He would have done much better if he had just said “you know what? I’d rather not answer that question” and just left it alone (although it would have nothing to minister or speak truth to anyone) instead of the NON-answer he gave. It’s like as soon as Kirk realized what Sway was getting ready to ask him, his body language said uh-oh!!

  5. MiMi says:

“And uh, And uh, And, And, And”…Kirk got a little nervous there looking for the right words to appease man and water down Gods word, sad! smh!

  6. DBM says:

This video makes it shamefully obvious to me that there are some very powerful and dangerous handlers involved in his current career status right now. I am in no place to try to figure out which apostate Christian leaders will repent and return to Christ and which ones won’t, however I do beleive that the ones who come to themselves and return may either lose or have to forfeit a great deal of the material gain, fame, and fortune that was gained as a result.

  7. gcmwatch says:

This was such a shame. Thats all I can say. It truly embarrassed me to see him grovel and debase himself like that. Truly shameful.

  8. Alex Forbes says:

Well I can only read the comments to get a sense of the story because someone shut down the video.:D

  9. Mildred says:

God does not need us, we need Him. He is large, and we are small.
