The fact that you pose to me a question that should certainly already be clear in your mind since the gospels; Christ own words and the NT epistles makes the answer to your question obvious to a believer, is not worth the effort my hands need to make to give a real answer.

Incidentally, Jesus did once thin His crowd out with a hard word about His message. So He understood that the crowds do not automatically mean that all of them are disciples. You state that you feel that we critique Osteen simply because he has a large church. You have no idea as to what my motivations are beyond what I have disclosed. I am others are also miserable also as you have stated.
Real misery is thinking you know the truth and not be aware that you don’t know that you don’t know.

Have you been born from above Henry? Has God crushed you under the weight of your sins…bringing you to Godly sorrow which leads to repentance? Have you cried out, ‘O God have mercy on me!’ Are you a new creation in Christ, being changed from the INSIDE OUT? Only God can give us a new heart and put His Spirit within us {please read Ezekiel 36:26.27}.
Too many today are professing Christ with their mouths, yet their hearts remained unchanged. They continue living just as they did before they professed Christ. That is because men like Osteen FAIL to preach the whole counsel, especially the doctrine of regeneration.
” Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” 2 Cor. 5:17
“For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but a new creation. ” Gal. 6:15
The ‘new creation’ is evidence of the power of God as He re-births a lost, wicked sinner into a ‘new creation’. This new creature no longer practices habitual sin. The rest of his/her life will be spent under the surgical ‘knife’ of the Great Physician as He cuts away sin in the life of His child. Obvious sins will be shed right away, others which are embedded a little deeper will come out as the new believer studies the word of God.

Preaching His truth does not include picking and choosing what you want to say, or shying away for fear of not ‘filling up’ your church. The truth of God’s word is offensive and will NOT fill up a church, but instead, empty it. Lost sinners do not want to hear how sinful they are. They want to hear about the Jesus who will give them all their carnal hearts desire, material possessions, wealth, comfort…all this life has to offer. That is NOT what the true Gospel says, in fact, it states just the opposite. . .
“If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.” John 15:19
“Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.” 2 Timothy 3:12
“Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.” 1 John 2:15
“So likewise, whoever of you does not forsake all that he has cannot be My disciple.” Luke 14:33
“Now godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and clothing, with these we shall be content. But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and [into] many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition.” 1 Timothy 6:6-9
The word of God shoots holes in Osteen’s gospel of ‘your best life now’.

Jesus is not Gods best but Gods only Dor to the true and living God. This is not judging anyone, it is in Gods word, a plain as day.

On this I fear that Pastor Osteen comes short as he said that only God can judge the hearts of Muslims, etc.

This is the heart that God sees without Christ.

The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?

we must pray for boldness in him!

So you would say that he was wrong in saying that obviously.

The thing about the Pharisees was that they knew their stuff. They were well read, they studied their bibles, and they spoke in the synagogues…what’s there to hate about that? They were righteous men of God who followed the law of Moses. They were holy….but they didn’t embrace the spirit of God. It was all law..all letter…all black and white. Jesus hated their ways, not them and I don’t hate them or you.

GCMW: Its good to know you dont hate me. I dont hate anyone either. I wont allow that to keep me from eternity with God. However, are we NOT supposed to study the scripture? We are not supposed to show ourselves approved UNTO GOD? We are not to hold fast to sound doctrine? We are not supposed to uphold God’s Word as our authority? If not, what do you suggest we reference? You seem to be confusing God’s Word with Moses’s law. We are to love God’s law. It is perfect, converting the soul. The pharisees didnt embrace “the Spirit” because it had not come yet. I do see your analogy although it doesnt seem to be applicable. I believe there is no proper interpretation or application of God’s Word without the leading of his Spirit.

I personally don’t have an issue with Osteen or his teachings, and YES I disagree with you on this.

GCMW: Youre quite welcome. Truth is just…truth. There’s not one instance on this blog, my numerous public appearances, extensive writings, personal relationships or private conversations where I have ever said, pretended or insinuated that I am perfect. As a matter of fact I have concluded perfection in holiness is defined as spiritual maturity. In that, I am mature, I am being matured and I will be mature. Your “pride” reference is another instance of immaturity on your part. That’s because you mislabel confidence in God’s word for pride in oneself. That happens when lifting people up means more that lifting the Saviour up. Nevertheless, let’s just talk facts Henry. There are innumerable instances of people disagreeing with me (just on this blog). I state my case, they state theirs. Sometimes it works itself out, sometimes it doesn’t. You may be the next example of how that works. Disagreement is acceptable, false teachings are not.

How hypocritical (and immature) is that to rake a minister of the gospel (Osteen) over the coals on a blog without offering a hand of constructive help or instruction to get him back on track? Listen to what Jesus says about these type of people

GCMW: From what I see plenty people including me have offered what we are supposed to offer: truth. That’s what Joel Osteen needs. If you feel he is off track, then you let me know the outcome of your sit down conversation (or phone with him). If you dont feel he is off track, then go start a blog where you praise him every time he opens his mouth. Sound like a fair deal? You also confuse examining recognized Christian leader’s (like Osteen) false teachings, not to mention compromise by God’s Word with hypocrisy. Again this is another unfortunate result of spiritual immaturity.

Now Jesus turned to address his disciples, along with the crowd that had gathered with them. “The religion scholars and Pharisees are competent teachers in God’s Law. You won’t go wrong in following their teachings on Moses. But be careful about following them. They talk a good line, but they don’t live it. They don’t take it into their hearts and live it out in their behavior. It’s all spit-and-polish veneer.
