I am a musician and member my church worship team. I have twenty plus years in music ministry and as a saved disciple of Christ. I am very careful in my purchase of christian music and publications. Years ago, I have made the mistake of buying items from our highly publicized musicians and tv evangelists. But thanks to gcm and Pastor Foster, EX ministries, charisma magazine and seeing or hearing first hand of some problems in certain ministries, I realize that we need to try the spirits and really know the persons who are in today's ministries. On the subject of music I believe that music for the glory of Jesus and our living God should be holy and not mixed with secular music because music represents emotions and feelings and have connection to spirits. I don't believe in some so called gospel artist who says that only the lyrics matter and not the music(eg, mary, mary, kiki sheards). God presence won't come into worldly music or club music. Lets stop supporting some of these christian and gospel artists.

Contrary to what the Devil wants us to believe in that the music of many of these heathens (I know...I'm being harsh again) is our only alternative of the praise and worship is our KING, there are many who serve to admonish the LORD's voice in His call to us in Eph 5:19 "Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;"

Many of these artists are unknown, especially in the Black Churches because you know how we do and like our music. These loving servants are not recognized amounst "us brethern" because, unlike the evil of many of these "entertainers", the emphasis is more on the music and songs, that the artists.

You will not find the back beats in the rhythms, the trite and corny lyrics, the worldliness in their appearance (many of these folks, you hardly know where they perform, if indeed they do). They are totally the opposite of Mary Mary, Kirk Franklin, Patty Labelle, Clarks Sisters, and many who idolize and praise the evil founder of “gospel music”, Thomas Dorsey.

Here is the lyrics of one of my recent blessings of a song sung by “THE WILDS” (sacred music):

HE WHO HOLDS US IN HIS HANDS

“When God says "No" to you, it's such a blow to you
When all your hopes and dreams unravel at the seams
When God says "Wait" to you, when God seems late to you
It's hard to rest within His will, it's hard to trust and "Just be still"
It's hard to simply wait until it's all made plain
He who holds us in His hands, has no problems only plans
He who has control of all sees the smallest sparrow fall
He who works where no one knows, does not sleep as we suppose
But works in all things, both great and small things
For His own glory and our best good
When God works silently, in ways we cannot see
When troubles multiply so that we ache and sigh.
When God does not seem kind, when hope is hard to find
It's hard to rest within His will, It's hard to trust and "Just be still"
It's hard to simply wait until it's all made plain
He who holds us in His hands, has no problems only plans
He who has control of all sees the smallest sparrow fall
He who works where no one knows, does not sleep as we suppose
But works in all things, both great and small things
For His own glory and our best good”

Some sites for great sacred and Christian music (and you can listen to these stations on the internet) are:

Oldfashionedradio.com

Abidingradio.com (especially Christmas MUSIC)

Holinessmusic.com (careful, some honky-tonk and bluegrass mix)

Personally, I have a very nice collection of CD’s, void of all that trash done by many of these “entertainers”.

If you can get anything by Darcell McCoy (he was killed in a car crash some years ago), I admonish you to do so. The Way of Life Trio, The Farrell Trio, The Precious Singers, THE WILDS (my Favorite, anything by them), SMS Men’s Chorus, Soundforth…I mean I can Go ON…BEAUTIFUL MUSIC…I suggest you write down the lyrics to many of their songs and memorize them, as your heart will indeed be made GLAD. JERALD GLICK and FAMILY, VOICES of PRAISE (“My Glory all the Cross”)

More LYRICS:….

Guard your Heart, Guard your Heart
As a soldier to his keeping,
Never resting never sleeping,
Ever watching for the fray

Guard your Heart, Guard your Heart
For the world with all its treasures,
Seems to lure you with its pleasures,
To destroy you day by day.

May your eyes look straight before you,
Never turning left or right
Looking only unto Jesus,
His our Goal, our Pure Delight!

Guard your Heart, Guard your Heart
On your path be ever careful
On the road be ever prayful
Never turning evil's way

Guard your Heart, Guard your Heart
May your mind be ever ready
Ever sober every steady
Be victorious come what may

May your lips be a reflection
Of the change God wrought within
Never lieing
Never boasting
Speaking lightly of your sin

Guard your heart; guard your heart,
Choose God's word, choose meditation
Daily prayer and dedication
Making strong the soldier's Soul.

Guard your heart; guard your heart,
May your goals be ever simple,
Never selfish, never sinful,
Chosing Christ
Your highest goal
Guard your heart! Guard your heart! Guard your heart.

Don’t be deceived, the things of God are sometimes hidden. The devil knows that and tries to keep it hidden with his spew of flash and dash, and bling and trash… SO TO DISCOURAGE THE HEART OF THE SAINTS.

Lisa, its sad. really sad. These people do not deserve our money to trash God and his kingdom in such a way.

Maybe we should just "sing unto the Lord a new song" and let that do. IMO the great majority of the gospel, ccm and southern gospel websites are nothing more than "fan sites" which praise, praise, praise everything these people do.

Maybe someone else knows where we can get HONEST information on this artists before buying their music.

What a bummer! My "Christian" music collection is going to be down to nothing pretty soon. I have a couple of Caedmon's Call CD's that will be going in the trash. I'm a firm believer that what is in the heart & spirit of musicians can & will affect those who listen to them. Thanks for keeping us informed. Does anyone know of a website that I can go to if I have questions about particular artists? Thanks!

Amen to that Pamela. I've been teaching my children, my youth group and adults as well about the dangers of venomous music. "it's just music" is the usual cry of the unlearned or hard-headed. Those repetitive words make the difference.

I do not listen to hardly any Christian music. The only stuff I listen to is what my church sings. The worship leaders are very picky about the music they choose. They have changed lines in songs where wording did not line up with the Bible.

Too many of these people do not know the Bible so they peddle their false doctrines in song. The danger comes because of how music affects the soul. Repetition can cause wrong doctrine to be embedded in a person where it takes a lot of mind renewal to weed out. Why listen to poison?????

"If 95 percent of “Christian music” was rounded up and burned today, we might be able to hear God’s truth over the noise of these pied pipers."

You just don't know how true that statement is. This guy's lyrics suck like a Kirby vacuum.

"Tell me, brother, what matters more to you?
Tell me, sister, what matters more to you?"

Obviously, truth doesn't matter to him nor his band. I hardly buy "christian" music without vulgar language on it because it's so watered-down and powerless. This is nothing but a pure turn off.

The reason homosexuality is so important to the church is because the church has been under assault from the homosexual community for it's non-acceptance and non-tolerance of it. The church wasn't as vigilant on the issue 20 years ago as it is today because homosexuals were in the closet. But when the gay community comes out and says in essence, "We're out and you're going to accept our behavior, one way or the other, like it or not," then we are inspired to take a stand. We are admonished to stand. Jude said we are to CONTEND for the faith which was once and for all delivered to THE SAINTS.

They are looking for spiritual justification and affirmation. Otherwise, why try so hard to get into the church? The logical rationale would be to get together and do our own thing apart from the church if the church doesn't want to accept it.

Keep contending, true Brothers and Sisters in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!!!!
