Former lesbian nightclub owner gives up all to follow Jesus

In Ferndale, a suburb of Detroit, a new club had everybody excited. The new owners had set out to make it the hottest interactive gay nightclub in the state of Michigan and judging from the consistently packed crowds, for the most part, they had succeded.  Michigan’s top gay magazine Between The Lines, hailed the owners and the club as a major attraction.
Club 9 attracts one of the most diverse crowds of any gay club in Ferndale, with Monday night football, Hump Night on Wednesdays for the boys, Trend-Sexy Fridays for hip-hop lovers and Sweet Saturdays, when a predominantly female crowd kicks it to the latest top 40 jams.

The club also attracted a pair of young and ambitious women. In October of 2009, Kiana Dennis, who is just 29, and Angela Vincents, who just prefers “thirty-something,” purchased the business and expanded it. They added TV’s, dance poles, a T-shaped stage for fashion shows and a new sign out front. They painted the walls and made the events calendar more diverse.

They also brought in talent from out of town, including the sexy dancers from the 2012 club in Windsor and Spinderella, the turntable genius from the iconic rap group Salt-n-Peppa.

Dennis and Vincents also worked to make Club 9 a part of both the gay community and the Ferndale scene. The club was a gold-level sponsor for Motor City Pride, a participant in the annual Ferndale Pub Crawl, and a club sponsor for Hotter than July, an LGBT celebration organized by the Black Pride Society.

But about a year ago, all of that changed. Club co-owner Kiana Dennis closed the venue, gave up the women, the fame and all the benefits of sin to follow Jesus. Now she’s telling her story to help others know that there is nothing too hard for God. See the videos below.

“It gets better………only through Christ.”

This woman had it all by the world’s standard, top club, sexual desires, and money , but it still wasn’t enough, she still wanted God and gave it all. Up for Him. I really wonder how many homosexuals look in the mirror at night and cry out for help….

2 Australian Dave { 12.11.11 at 5:27 pm }

What a fantastic story. I know this is an extreme and dramatic case since Kiana had so much material success due to the sinful lifestyle she was living. Praise God that she turned away completely from it and took up her cross to follow Him. So many other Christians (including myself) can learn from this since we so often instead want to keep aspects of our sinful nature while calling ourselves Christian.

This was truly a blessing. There are many people coming out of homosexuality that the media would not like us to see. It encourages me to stay on the right path. Thank you for sharing this story.

4 rosewater { 12.11.11 at 9:07 pm }

Only the power of Christ can do this…turn someone from a sinful life to serving Him. I pray she is a testimony to others. I know her old friends/lovers will come to try to make her stumble and I KNOW the devil will try hard hard hard to trip her up (happened to me, it was very intense) but when Christ is holding on to us…noone can snatch us out of His hand. I’m so happy for her! I pray she is a witness to everyone around her! Such a powerful testimony!!!

5 gcmwatch { 12.11.11 at 9:41 pm }

Amen rosewater, this testimony is proof that anyone who submits to Jesus Christ will experience a radical change in their life. Christ IS change.
Its sad that so much misinformation and lies are being floated by the homosexuals because they are afraid of change. This young lady told the truth. Many of them are hurt, angry, lonely and want to be free. They are putting on the fake face at the parties, clubs, ballrooms, sex and other darkness only to have to face themselves, knowing that their lives are missing something none of that can give them. I hope they will see the truth and turn to Christ now, just like Kiana Dennis and find peace.

Any man that comes unto me I will in no wise cast him out. John 6:37

What an amazing testimony, this young lady is such a blessing! These videos are not just an encouragement to those wanting to get out of the homosexual lifestyle, but anyone wanting to get out of any “sin” lifestyle. I thank God for giving her boldness and courage, for He is mighty to save~

7 Lisa Kemp-Williams { 12.11.11 at 10:54 pm }

Oh praise God for this powerful testimony. Jesus Christ is still the way, the TRUTH and the life. This young lady is bold, determined and in place to be used by God. Hallelujah! My prayer is that she will remain submitted to the Holy Spirit, because I can just see God using her mightily for His glory and to expose every lie of the enemy. Thank you Jesus!!!!!!!

8 Ex-gay { 12.12.11 at 2:36 am }

Wow. She gave up a career based on catering to evil, unnatural desires and turned to Christ. That’s beyond admirable.

9 Fred Rochester { 12.12.11 at 9:34 pm }

All over the country, young women are turning from self indulgence to the presence of the Lord. Like the woman at the well, “You’ll never thirst again.”

10 Wes { 12.13.11 at 1:48 am }

We cry out for help because everyone expects us to change or at least not be ourselves. That hurts, especially for people like me who want for everyone to just get along.

11 Wes { 12.13.11 at 1:53 am }

I happen to experience those desires out of the blue, so they aren’t unnatural. They aren’t taught or learned any more than being straight is. Neither is it evil, just different than what any of you are used to. Nothing you can say will change my mind, I already deal with my parents’ disapproval and want for me to “follow my conscience” out of being who I am. I am gay, and I will follow my heart.

12 Roberto { 12.13.11 at 2:05 am }

I don’t expect you to change and neither does God. Following Christ is voluntary. What does “be ourselves” really mean since this woman no longer considers herself to be a lesbian. Was she never really gay? Be careful you can’t read her mind.

So Wes…..
What is stopping you front submitting your fleshly desires to Him and be born again?

13 Roberto { 12.13.11 at 2:16 am }

1.)Gay is not genetic that cannot be proven

2.)Wes, you are right nobody can change your mind because its reprobate, God turned you over to your own selfish prideful dersires. The only thing that can be done at this point is ask people to pray for you because God resists the proud, therfore he is deaf to you.

14 gcmwatch { 12.13.11 at 9:28 am }

“The human heart is the most deceitful of all things, and desperately wicked. Who really knows how bad it is? Jeremiah 17:9
Wes, Following your heart is part of the deception that you dont see. When you live based on your own self-righteousness, you will get exactly what you desire. The wickedness of your own heart. Only God can change your mind, just like GOD changed Kiana Dennis’ mind about herself and what she believed. But if you reject God and his righteousness, there remains no hope. Your own self righteousness and your wicked heart have no ability to save you. They both work against you to keep you blind and in slavery to yourself til death. Reconsider your ways and agree with God.

15 Wes { 12.13.11 at 11:23 am }

I don’t turn my back on it because in my faith, “changing” in that way is dishonest, and almost downright blasphemy. God made us all who we are, and to try to change that is horrible. I couldn’t be straight any more than you could be gay.

16 Wes { 12.13.11 at 11:29 am }

And what if you are wrong? We each believe different things; I could be wrong (and probably am on some points), but so could you. And before I get backlash, let me explain this a little more. I do NOT doubt God. I doubt my own faith, and I doubt that the Bible is still purely the Word of God, if it ever was.

That is not blasphemous. It is simply not following blindly, as the German civilians did in WWII. Everything seemed okay, because it didn’t affect them directly, they thought they were just purifying their country and making it better. It affects me negatively, I question it, and in this case will never agree with it.

17 Lafe { 12.13.11 at 1:27 pm }

To Wes: You are putting up fleshly intellectual roadblocks which amount to a lot of, “what if’s?”
Those “what if’s” have already been answered in the Word of God (see Romans and Galatians).
However, if you wish to pursue an intellectual debate with God about
His existence and if you are going to pass judgment on God about what He has said about you and the nature of sin and the deception of sin, you are only playing mind games with yourself and are a modern day Nicodemus.
If you seek God, He will not snuff out your wick and mock you.
Repentance is not an intellectual exercise by which you are confident
in the flesh that God is who He states He is.
It is by faith alone.
Repent and believe the gospel!

18 Robert { 12.13.11 at 2:58 pm }

I’m glad to see you are pro-life at least. Acknowledging that God made us. But can you back up anything with Scripture about being gay and not having to turn away from those sinful desires?

19 Robert { 12.13.11 at 3:02 pm }

Yeah it is pretty blasphemous. Your lack of Respect for God and saying He is capable of making a mistake is pretty bad. Our own intellect can be our worst enemy sometimes.

If you have doubt in the Truth of God’s Word, prove it, lets see what you bring to the table.

20 gcmwatch { 12.13.11 at 3:59 pm }

I used to think that way too. That there was no way I could ever be anything other than gay. Its amazing how your own self perception will keep you from experiencing the miracle of change. You arent the first person to doubt, but unresolved doubt effectiively locks you out of the possibility of what you think is impossible.

Mark 6:4 But Jesus said unto them, “A prophet is not without honor, save in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house.”
5And He could do no mighty works there, except that He laid His hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them.
6And He marveled because of their unbelief. And He went round about the villages teaching.

21 Matt { 12.13.11 at 4:29 pm }

Roberto,
What do you mean God does not expect him to change??

22 Tony Davis { 12.13.11 at 5:44 pm }

Wes it would appear that you have a reprobate mind and it is God who turns us over to that mind. You have WILLINGLY been overcome by your sin and the enemy of your soul is intensifying it to suit you. I take no great joy in saying this to you. But those of us who are spiritual have continuously attempted to aid you in this error, but you have not received us. Christ himself says, “Do not cast your pearls to the swine, for they will turn around and tear you to pieces.” He’s not calling people pigs he’s saying why continuously try to give someone something when it has been revealed to you that they won’t receive it/you. And you yourself are testimony to that fact, for you have wholeheartedly said you have no desire to change, for God has made you this way and you are content. Scripture is consistent w/people who have made up there mind such as you have to leave you where you are. I reminded when praying for Israel Jeremiah was weeping and wailing and the Lord himself said, “Do not pray for these people for if even Daniel, Job and Noah prayed for them wouldn’t be enough.” No need to debate w/you just for the sake of debating when there are countless others who want to be changed and restored and receive the cleansing flow of God’s grace, truth and love.

23 Fred Rochester { 12.13.11 at 8:43 pm }

As you can see, those that trust God for their salvation have the sure Word of God. We trust what the Lord said. “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved.” My question to Wes is, “What word are you trusting?” If it is your own word, to be truthful, your word carries no weight. God told Adam in the day you eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, you shall surely die. So far, death has not disappointed. But the Lord sent His Son to die for our sins. And so far, since we’ve all accepted His Word to save us, all of us can’t be wrong. It should be an indication to you that you need to consider your self righteous, self regurgitated concepts. I’m not saying these words to be funny or to mock you. What I am trying to get you to see is that all false hope is rehearsed to make it sound like you are speaking truth. God’s Word and His Son is truth. That’s the difference. Your job is simply to either accept the truth that the Lord will completely set you free from the bondage of homosexual sins or reject the truth and perish (see John 3:16). Like I said, all of us that speak from the Bible truthfully can’t all be wrong. Someone has to be right and someone has to be wrong. If God said choose life (Deuteronomy 30:19) it’s an open book test and God is giving you the best answer. It’s not His fault if you consciously choose the wrong answer when the Proctor is giving you the right answer to pass the test.

Rebellion against God’s Truth. Loving the Darkness instead of the Light ect ect……

25 Jay { 12.14.11 at 1:44 pm }

Hi Wes…I have sat here and read every post by you and others..I just want you to go back and read what you are saying. Isn’t it scary…to hear the doubt in your words…its clear you dont trust God…and you would rather trust your heart and let your heart lead you..I dont know if you knew this but that is actually a quote from the satanic bible…and I am sure that was not learned by you just like you say being gay was not taught to you..or so you think…the enemy will plant seeds, and most of the time they will not be so obvious..if someone came up to you and said, here take this pill, and you will have a lot fun for about 30 years and then you will have to pay me back for all the enjoyment I gave you on earth by dwelling in Hell with me….would you do it? NO..why? because the punishment would outweigh all that fun, right? well..that is why he is so sly…He is not going to tell you how wrong you are ..it is just a slippery slope and if you are not awake, you will wake up when your feet are hitting the fire…and it will be too late…Fill your heart with The Word of God so that it will ultimately be your guide and not your heart..the heart IS wicked and out of it flows the issues of life. I hope that you will reconsider while God is calling you, people say that it is never too late to return to God as long as the blood is still running warm in your veins but that is not true…If God does not call you then you can not come..if he doesnt knock again, then what? The day that you hear his voice, don’t harden your heart..this may be your last chance to take Him up on this offer…I would rather be safe than sorry.. I mean, what is there to loose? You doubt The Word of God as being comletely pure? well, the Bible says all scripture is good…so no matter what you may “think”…and if for some chance (theres not a chance but I will entertain it for a second) the Bible turns out to be completely false, then so what? you will have lived a life that is Christ-like and everyone can say you were a good person and then you come back as an Oak Tree or Butterfly…lmbo…but if YOU are wrong and God is right (which He is) and you live a life of sin, then you will go to hell and you will be judged and punished for every evil deed:homosexuality included…and you will find out the hard way that God is infact not a liar but MAN is the liar…I love you.and I have family who I am praying to come out of this sin too…so I thank God in advance for delivering you, and I will be praying for you also…l

Jay, God is turning my heart in the direction of yours. I believe he is wooing Wes because he is calling him out and Wes’ is afraid because all he has is his doubts. God’s love is greater than the doubts and he will continue to woo him with love and kindness until he says YES to God. Any one of us who has been in the grip of sin, knows that the enemy will bind you with fear and pile on the confusion in an effort to keep you from responding to the call of God. It may not be today, but the Lord will not cease pursuing Wes until he is safe in the Father’s arms.

28 Jeanine { 12.14.11 at 10:16 pm }

Do not put trust in your heart as God says, ” Jeremiah 17:9
The heart is more deceitful than anything else and desperately sick—who can understand it? We don’t have to be taught to lie, hate, steal, or lust either. We are born with a sin nature. Submit your will to God who loves you very much and exchange your sin nature for a spirit filled nature. It’s not too late. Humble yourself – pride goes before destruction. Don’t believe Satan’s lies. We will be praying for you!

29 Wes { 12.15.11 at 12:38 pm }

I used to think I could, but when I tried, in every way I could, nothing changed except I was in agony. I wasn’t happy then, when I didn’t accept it, but now I am, having accepted it. I acknowledge God can do anything; however, I don’t think this is something He would change. I think He wants us to be happy, while following “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”

30 Wes { 12.15.11 at 12:42 pm }

I am not suggesting He is making a mistake or capable of making a mistake; I am suggesting that the people who initially wrote the Bible may not have been completely honest or truthful with their writings. Basically, I’m doubtful whether all of the Bible is of God, and I believe a good chunk of it is man-made.

31 Wes { 12.15.11 at 12:54 pm }

First, let me be clear; I thank you for what you are doing, because you care, even though you do not know me. Also, I do not think God lies, and I agree, man does lie. I try to live as Christ-like as I can. I offer strangers assistance, I am kind to all those I meet, I think I am capable of forgiving anyone for anything. I live by “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” It’s a wonderful thing to live by, as I enjoy making other people happy; when I’m depressed, I’ll help someone out and it’ll cheer me up.

But now, I must delve into homosexuality, which is where we don’t agree so much. Based on what I believe, the illegality of homosexuality is unbelievable. It doesn’t hurt anyone; actually, due to overpopulation, it’s actually helping a little. It involves consensual adult males or females, everyone is perfectly willing; it makes me happy, it makes others happy. And now we’re to what drives it home for me that it’s natural. Just as there are sensory nerves that make heterosexual activities enjoyable, there are also such nerves that make homosexual activities enjoyable. If we were not supposed to do any of these things, why would we be built so that it could be enjoyed?

32 Robert { 12.15.11 at 7:20 pm }

Wes its simple if your not willing to obey God, just be an atheist. Stop trying to say the God of the Bible “created” you to have same sex attractions.

As far as your “doubts” read on.

2 Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness;

Hebrews 6:18 so that by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have taken refuge would have strong encouragement to take hold of the hope set before us.

33 Lafe { 12.16.11 at 12:49 pm }

To Wes: Your last posting: Good try…but no cigar. A lot of heart renderings of how good Wes is but…no cigar. Wes, as I have stated before and say again, you want to engage in intellectual lite arguments with the Word of God so as to justify your conduct. Be my guest. Knock yourself out with doing what sinners do best….they sin. And when you
are like the prodigal son and you come to your senses (assuming by the grace of God you are still living), you will come back to the Father of whom you believe that you have more and betters answers about life and living.
Beyond that, and as for the content of these various postings, you have been duly warned. So, you can continue to engage in mind numbing mental jujitsu with yourself or you can cry out, What must I do to be saved!…
Choose whom this day who you will serve (Joshua).

34 lyn { 12.17.11 at 1:54 pm }

Hello Wes,

I would like to speak with you concerning your beliefs; let me start with this statement from you ‘I try to live as Christ-like as I can’. You are attempting a works righteous salvation, you will never be able to live up to the perfect standard of a holy God on your own. Trusting solely in the finished work of Christ is what a follower of Christ does for salvation. Please take a minute and read this from Isaiah 64:6, ‘But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.’ The Lord Jesus Christ is the propitiation for sins –1Jn 2:2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
1Jn 4:10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Propitiation means ‘atoning sacrifice’, simply put, God’s wrath at sin was poured out on His Son and was completely satisfied at Christ’s death, burial and resurrection. There is no deed, work or ritual you could perform that would appease God, believing on His Son is what the Bible commands.

Now I want to address these words of yours, ‘Based on what I believe, the illegality of homosexuality is unbelievable. If we were not supposed to do any of these things, why would we be built so that it could be enjoyed?’
The biggest error in this is found in your opening statement, ‘based on what I believe’. You see Wes, it does not matter what you think, or believe because God has already stated in His word homosexuality is a sin, an abomination. Christ Himself spoke out against it in Matthew 15:19, 20, “For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:
These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashen hands defileth not a man.” Please pay close attention to ‘fornications’, this is where the Lord addresses homosexuality. Fornication is from the Greek word porneia, which means ‘illicit sexual intercourse, adultery, fornication, homosexuality, lesbianism, intercourse with animals etc.sexual intercourse with close relatives; Lev. 18;sexual intercourse with a divorced man or woman; Mk. 10:11,12′ {from http://www.blueletterbible.org}. Notice what the Lord says about fornication, it defiles a man. Defiles comes from the Greek koinoō meaning ‘to make (Levitically) unclean, render unhallowed, defile, profane’. Where will the defiled spend eternity? Not in heaven; from Revelation 21:27 “And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb’s book of life.”

Wes, you say you do not believe the Bible is God’s word, that it was written by man. That is not true, from 2 Timothy 3:16, ‘All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness’. Also read this, 2Peter 1:20 “Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.”
2Peter 1:21 “For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.”

Wes, you cannot trust your own mind, your thoughts, what you believe. ‘The heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked, who can know it?’ That is from Jeremiah 17:9, heart means ‘inner man, mind, will, heart, understanding’. Our minds, emotions, feelings, motives, thoughts are all corrupt. Deceitful means ‘trickery’, our minds play tricks on us, we can convince ourselves anything is right based on our own wisdom and understanding. Desperately wicked means ‘incurable, sick’. We have an illness, there is no known cure to man, we are dead in sin sinners, totally depraved. That is why we all love our sins, make excuses for our sins, and will continue to do so unless God Almighty crushes us under the weight of our sins. Homosexuality goes against nature, take a look at this from Romans 1:26-27, ‘For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.’ What is natural? This comes from the Greek physikos and means ‘produced by nature, inborn’. We are all born with an inward sense of what is right, in this case, men with women and women with men. It is when we suppress this truth, and seek our own forbidden desires that this natural inborn knowledge gets tossed out the window. When we reject the truth of God’s word, He lets us go headlong into our own sinful lustful desires. We then turn around and make excuses for our sinful choices, it is just as the Lord says in John 3:19 ‘And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
verse 20 ‘For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.’

Believing in the crucifixion of the Son of God, His being raised from the dead, is what salvation is about. “Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord” Acts 3:19
“except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish” Luke 13:3 Confess your sins and forsake them, cry out for mercy.

I invite you to read what Christ has done for me Wes, may the God of heaven and earth be gracious to you…http://iamhis-lyn.blogspot.com/2008/11/my-testimony-up-until-fall-of-2003-i.html
