Gay activist websites abuzz with AFTAH-DL Foster interview
Via Right Wing Watch, homosexual activists are apparently in a state of shock and predictable manufactured rage at my Dan Savage comments on Peter LaBarbera’s radio show on February 4th.
“It’s really indicative of the character of these individuals… Dan Savage, is also the creator of the so-called anti-bullying It Gets Better charade. You know, homosexual kids are still killing themselves after believing his message. I think he—personally—I think he should be arrested for propagating this lie to—for these kids to have this false promise without any sort of information on what is ‘it’ anyway? It’s really so vile to me that it disturbs me to even talk about it.” Full interview with LaBarbera and Pastor Patrick Wooden here.
This is really a surprising development considering that its not the first time I have made those comments. In fact GCM Watch had a full and robust debate about Savage’s inherently fraudulent campaign. Its still a mystery how Savage can purport to abhor bullying, but yet actively use bullying and vile, not to mention a filthy obsession with fecal matter to make his points. No parent in their right mind should allow their child to associate themselves with such a demonic undertaking. The end does not justify the means.
You can read “False it gets better campaign” claims another victim” here. Right Wing Watch probably thought they snagged a major “right wing” story by posting it (with attendant youtube video), but they are really way behind the news cycle. Still its a good redux and helps to spread the message to the activist bully that feeding sexually confused and vulnerable children fake promises wont result in anything getting better except his own media face time.
Interestingly enough there is strong dissension in the gay community about Savage and his nefarious program. Some gays agree with me.
On Queerty who took issue with my comments, also admitted Savage’s program is lacking.
From the comments:
“As far as IGBP goes, with five recent cases of LGBT teen suicide this past month alone, it’s become obvious that it’s not enough anymore for one to post a video on YouTube and cut a PSA promo for The Trevor Project especially when one of the victims was a Trevor Project employee. Anyone who believes otherwise has their head elsewhere.”
and another
“Dan Savage only used “It Gets Better” to market himself and create a brand. A television show on MTV and a charity that keeps his pocket lined. He’s proven to be a racist, transphobic, and an overall [edited]. Every negative comment he gets is deserved so he really shouldn’t get any defense at all. It’s crazy how many people ignore the nasty things he does, I can understand his main audience made up of white teens who are too young to understand what’s wrong with how he behaves, but I can’t figure out why an adult would ignore his awful comments.”
Maybe some good can come of this by having a broader, more mature and inclusive dialogue about how to help teens struggling with their sexuality. Savage needs to go sit down somewhere and leave the problem-solving to responsible adults.
