Keller takes on “gay teen” suicide hype

Using the media hyped Tyler Clementi suicide as a backdrop, Christian evangelist Bill Keller blasted gay celebrities and their liberal media concubines as the primary reasons young people struggling with homosexuality kill themselves.

Through a press release Keller said “it is those in the media who glamorize and promote this choice as normal and acceptable, along with gutless pastors too afraid to speak out against this sin, and faux churches that glorify this deviant, unnatural, and unhealthy choice of sexual activity, who are the real guilty parties in Clementi’s death.”

The wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23). Any church who teaches that a person —whether young or old— should embrace sin, is an accessory to murder. And any religious leader who refuses to speak out against sin and death in an effort to turn people towards the Life-Giver, Jesus Christ is a hireling.

According to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention Suicide is on the rise over all demographics.
“The latest data available from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention indicates that 36,909 suicide deaths were reported in the U.S. in 2009. This latest rise places suicide again as the tenth leading cause of death in the U.S. Nationally, the suicide rate increased 2.4 percent over 2008 to equal approximately 12.0 suicides per 100,000 people. The rate of suicide has been increasing since 2000. This is the highest rate of suicide in fifteen years.”

Of those 37,000 people no one knows how many of them identified as “gay”.  The Trevor Project, which has positioned itself as some sort of authority on the issue, offers these conflicting views.

More than 34,000 people die by suicide each year,” making it “the third leading cause of death among 15 to 24 year olds with lesbian, gay, and bisexual youth attempting suicide up to four times more than their heterosexual peers.”

It is important to note, however, that it is impossible to know the exact suicide rate of LGBT youth because sexuality and gender minorities are often hidden and even unknown, particularly in this age group. Further research is currently being done to explain the prevalence of suicide among LGBT youths. (our italics)

So if there is no evidence to support the number of  so-called gay teen suicides and they can only guess about those who attempt it, then what is all the over the top media hype about? With no facts, all we are left with is scattered anecdotal stories and guesses about how many young people actually commit suicide.  Where are the facts and why hasn’t the gay community produced facts to support the tsunami level hype they generate about the issue? Often the lack of facts is overshadowed by wild accusations of “homophobia”, “intolerance” and “hate speech”. Their ignorant refusals to see their own glaring culpability in these deaths (of which we do not know how many or few there are) is a significant part of the problem. For the sake of their political agendas, telling and encouraging defenseless children to proclaim an unacceptable sexual behavior to the world (aka “coming out”)  is incredibly selfish, evil and blind to the inherent danger is poses.

That’s why Keller says homosexual activists should accept the blame for these deaths by leading young people down a path of self destruction.

Everyone who commits suicide has reasons that led them to make such a horrible decision. The fact is, suicide is exponentially higher amongst those who choose the homosexual lifestyle, and while those in the media want to blame people like myself who take a Biblical stand on this issue, the fact is, they are the ones most responsible!”

“It is the homosexual community and media who promote this lifestyle to society, forcing it to validate legally and ethically this choice of sexual behavior and relationships to our children as normal, even desirable behavior!” He adds, “The Bible says in the last days the truth will become a lie, and the lie the truth.”

You may remember, the homosexual activist world exploded with rage when Pastor DL Foster said gay sex “expert” Dan Savage should be arrested for his role in promoting the “It gets better” false promise to vulnerable teens with homosexual struggles. Read here and here.

Keller’s organization does what should be done for all homosexuals who struggle with the issue. Hopelessness for many different reasons, is  everywhere. The only hope for life and joy in life is Jesus Christ. Nothing gets better when he is excluded from the solution. Thus, over the past 20 years, Liveprayer has helped thousands of men and women make the choice to turn from the sin of homosexuality.
