Candace Chellew’s bulletproof conspiracy theory

candaceOle bulletproof is at it again, this time via Religion Dispatches lambasting the founders of TripleXChurch for trying to help homosexuals and sex industry workers (prostitutes et al).

Although Candace Chellew claims to be a gay christian, a Rwandan elephant might be a better representation. We’ve talked about her sophistic butchery of scripture here and here before. Now she’s protesting gays at parades being treated with love. She’s found incontrovertible evidence  of a conservative Christian conspiracy to convert gays from their true orientation with a sinister bait and switch tactic using water bottles and bracelets. Wow, thankfully she’s now exposed it and gays the world over are safe.

A new book by two pastors with a ministry focus on traditional sexual “sinners” like those in the porn industry and those who “struggle” with pornography, is seeking to revive this sort of “friendship evangelism.” They’re traveling the country, attending gay pride parades, handing out “Jesus Loves You” water bottles and wrist bracelets apologizing for how the church has treated “sinners” like gays and lesbians.

On the serious side, Ms Chellew’s biggest problem (like most gay christian clerics) is that she has a substantial amount of misplaced (and unjustified) caan-like anger at God and his Word. Sorry, republicans, conservative Christians, James Dobson nor Exodus International created the Bible. In fact, no one Chellew continuously blames had anything whatsoever to do with what is contained in the scriptures. But because we simply believe what it says and proclaim its truth, its just as if you wrote those hateful words to her. That’s a reference to the homosexuality is an abomination part which she doesn’t like because she thinks her lesbianism is her identity.

Its strange that one sinner would say, I’m better than that sinner because I don’t do that! Isnt that breaking the dreaded thou shalt not be judgmental law? Believe it or not that’s exactly Chellew’s issue with sex industry workers. She’s better than those degenerates!

“The offensiveness of this “friendship evangelism” cannot be overstated. Let me outline what I find most offensive. First, gay and lesbian people are lumped in with porn stars. I agree with them that the porn industry is harmful not just to women, but to men. It degrades both men and women—but women especially. I join with them in their quest to change the behavior of porn stars. However, I am offended that my community is lumped in with them. There is absolutely no comparison. It’s like comparing the heterosexual community to the porn industry. Yes, there are some perverts in the heterosexual community, but that doesn’t mean the whole community is perverse. Same goes for the gay and lesbian community.”

So what’s wrong with handing out bottles of water and Jesus loves you bracelets at gay pride events? Gays have always complained that Christians don’t show them love and are always hatin’ on them cause of who they are. Well, now that Jason Harper and Craig Gross are not doing that Chellew thinks its definitely because they are conniving “friendship evangelism” devotees like her sister. Who, by the way she mistrusts too.

Well, with all this Christian 007 action going on, just who does Chellew, defender of the gay christian kingdom of gay faith trust? Most likely herself and her book, Bulletproof Faith. Its her version of how to protect yourself from the evil Christians who want to tell you Jesus loves you but secretly want you to burn in hell. Its like a one year how-to-survive-in-post-Sadam Iraq guide.  Talk about conspiracy theories.

While Chellew is busy instructing frightened gays how to duck and dodge Christians who sincerely love them, perhaps its never occurred to her (that comes from fear of reading the bible) God might actually be still speaking to her over and over.

As has just been said: “Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion.” Heb 3:15. In other words, when God speaks to you, don’t play the bulletproof card.

And doesn’t God move in mysterious ways, his wonders to perform? Afterall, God did grant a jackass temporary speaking abilities to reprimand an apostate prophet and tell him he was about to get his head chopped off by an angel.  The case of Balaam strangely parallels the whole bulletproof ideology. Lying to people about God will only result in bondage, disobedience and severe consequences.

Apostate-in-chief John Shelby Spong (remember him?) wrote of BPF “It is an amazing truth that gay and lesbian Christians need to develop a bullet-proof faith in order to survive the attack of other Christians. That, however, is the experience of many homosexual persons. Candace Chellew-Hodge has in this book committed herself to the task of making that survival a reality. I salute her and her work”

Sounds like a perpetual victimization manifesto cult pledge. Like Spong’s crybaby manifesto, Chellew declares “there’s only one side to this issue.”   There’s something  ironically hypocritical about that when Challew’s church the UCC declares “God is still speaking”. But such are those who live in deception.

The incredulous thing is that people like Bulletproofing Chellew and Manifesto-ing Spong actually want us to believe them instead of God. What foolish arrogance.

God is not a man, that he should lie, nor a son of man, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill? Numbers 23:19 NIV

Lesbian mag features ex-lesbian Janet Boynes

Bound, a magazine catering to a lesbian lifestyle readership, featured former lesbian Janet Boynes of Minneapolis telling her story of getting out of her former lifestyle of sin.

“God hates me. Well, that’s what I’ve heard. I’ve heard He hates me because I’m a lesbian and according to the Bible, lady loving is a sin. It’s unnatural, like pastel-colored hair or imitation meat. I was once shown a clever little anagram by a straight Christian woman I accidentally hit on (strangely enough, she loked like a total dyke): GAY=God Abhors You. That was scrawled across a napkin and then thrown in my face. Must’ve been my pink hair.

According to Janet Boynes, author of Called Out: A Former Lesbian’s Discovery of Freedom, God isn’t like that. She says He calls in love. He’d write his number down on that napkin. He’s more like your pal who wants what’s best for you. However, “what’s best” is based on the teachings He laid out in the Bible, which isn’t the most gay-friendly read. If you’re gay He wants you to come back and hang out with him…just leave the lesbian thing at the door.”

The article is in a magazine with pictures which depict lesbian relationships. While GCM Watch does not approve of Bound’s content, we do approve of Evangelist Boynes taking the message of freedom right into the prison walls.

Registration is required to read the entire article.

Boynes is author of the book Called Out, which details her deliverance from homosexuality. [website]

New book warns ministers, their wives and mistresses

pricewarningI have to give it to Betty Price, wife of LA Pastor Fred Price.

Mrs. Price has penned a new book called “Warning to ministers, their wives and mistresses” and it is a much needed blast to the culture of adultery going on in the church.

Price says she had been receiving letters from women who were in affairs with ministers for almost 20 years. When she recently got two letters from women who said they were sexually involved with two high profile ministers, her daughter urged her to write a book about the subject.

The first letter was from an older, mature woman. She’d just bought a condo but lost her job after 25 years. Her self-esteem was very low and she reached out to her bishop for counseling. They’ve been having an affair for over three years. The second woman works side by side with her pastor. They began spending long hours together. Now, she is desperately trying to get out but doesn’t know how.

Both of these women know that what they are doing is wrong but don’t have the strength to leave. The ministers have threatened and coerced them into believing that if they left they would be dishonoring God. But both women expressed they were benefitting financially in the relationships. After reading those two letters, my daughter told me that I had to write a book.

Warning to Ministers, their Wives, and Mistresses from EIF TV on Vimeo.

I wrote “Warning To Ministers, Their Wives and Mistresses” to help young ministers so that they won’t allow the trappings that their positions bring to make them go in a different direction than what God has planned for them. There are women who come to church specifically for the purpose of sleeping with the minister and in my book I share the anonymous letters from these women who are having affairs with their pastors.

I also want to help other first ladies and women who live right for God and who do not have affairs with married men. I really want to shed light and bring it to the forefront because this secret is very harmful to the church. I want to let people know that the inappropriate actions of some ministers do not happen in every church. Moreover, I wanted to share my story and my experience.

Im glad she took off the gloves with this. Price accurately tags this as a “road to destruction” which is sure is. Read the full story at the Memphis’ TriState Defender

The book is available for purchase here.

Gay christian author E. Lynn Harris dead at 54

Black Voices Newswire is reporting that E. Lynn Harris is dead at 54 of undisclosed causes. Harris was out promoting his latest book.

A Random House executive has confirmed to The BV Newswire that best-selling author E. Lynn Harris has died.Harris was 53. He was currently on a book tour of the West Coast promoting his 11th novel ‘Basketball Jones,’ which involved an NBA player and his gay lover.According to Essence.com, the celebrated author’s personal assistant confirmed that his health had declined but would not provide any details as to what caused his death.

harrisHarris became known for writing books glorifying bisexuality and homosexuality and had a significant following among black women. One of his  books “I say a little prayer” (Doubleday 2006) was a cloaked  expose of the black church. It told the story of a “homophobic bishop” who pastored an Atlanta megachurch and a star member who is torn between his gay church friends and singing at the bishops revival which his gay friends intend to boycott.

Harris said the inspiration for the book was what he “saw happening in the black church. The homophobia. The black gay and lesbian people not having a place to go and get their spiritual needs fulfilled.”

Harris and people like him didnt understand that the church is not a place to come and get your needs met. Especially when your “needs” are incongruent with God’s will for your life. Unwilling to repent of their sexual sin, Harris instead wanted to create the type of church which allows homosexual sin to be accepted and celebrated.

The spin is on. Ebony-Jet hints that Harris may have worked himself to death. h/t:CA

Why black women found Harris’ bisexual books intriguing

New book alleges Hawkins brothers are homosexual

A new book  written by gay author E. Patrick Johnson, a professor at Northwestern University in Evanston,IL contains a rather overt assertion that gospel music industry worker Walter Hawkins and his brother Edwin are homosexuals. The Hawkins brothers are  gospel music industry “icons” and leaders of the Music and Arts conference.   But they are also in Johnson’s book Sweet Tea . The book uses an “oral history” format to tell the stories of homosexual men in the south. The author contends these stories needed to be “documented.”

One of the interviewees describes meeting Bishop Walter Hawkins and brother Edwin and the late  Rev. James Cleveland:hawkinsgayGCM Watch has reported on both Hawkins and Cleveland here and here, not to foster gossip or innuendo but to show that the roots of the gospel music industry have been irrigated by dirty water. The spirit that is fairly dominate in the gospel music industry was in part, ushered in by these men who still are revered and idolized by the unrepentant homosexual community in the church. And yes, they are largely responsible for the current sordid state of church music.

Sad to say, those who were tutored by them have the same spirit. I call it an “associational anointing”. In this case, its a transference of spirits by familiarity. That is not a good thing. Unfortunately, it has become entrenched in what should be the most glorious music on the face of the earth.

Strangely, there have been no known protests, denials or rebuttals of the book from Hawkins.

ADDENDUM 04.21.09
A very interesting article related to this story from the Chicago Tribune. Couldn’t find the original link. In it, Johnson says many contemporary gospel artists are gay, even if they do not acknowledge it publicly. That statement can be viewed two ways. To the gays in the church who already know this is true, it provides a sense of empowerment to continue in a sinful lifestyle while claiming to be saved. However, from a biblical perspective its error to allow someone who lives a consistent lifestyle of sin to hold positions of influence in God’s church.

African American authors writing more overcoming books

Though small compared to the thousands of books written by gay authors glorifying the sin of homosexuality, more and more African Americans are publishing books which tell a side reviled in MSM and liberal culture. Take some time to support them by purchasing a book and help spread the word that freedom from homosexuality is a reality. These books and authors represent a wealth of knowledge and experience the church could learn much from. Not all authors are former homosexuals.
