A Chicago area religious personality claims that since the Bible doesn’t address so-called “sexual orientation”, then the church should accept homosexuality as normal.

“Rev. Dr. Martha Simmons, Creator and Director of The African American Lectionary. During a Feb. 18th 2010 interview with Santita Jackson on Chicago’s WVON 1690 She appeared along with Dr. Brenda Wade who we will feature in another article. Dr. Simmons stated that not only does the bible not address the issue of sexual orientation, but the word which many people claim that was used to address this issue (Gk: arsenokoites) was a word of unknown origin and meaning and was allowed to creep in later translations of the bible. She stated that this word was defined by scholars as 1- sexual behavior or 2- sexual orientation. She says that most biblical translations only refer to homosexual sexual behavior not homosexual orientation.”

Simmons started the AA Lectionary, a type of topical sermon bank for black preachers. Judging from the gaggle of liberal, black liberation theology activists she highlights there, I wouldn’t spend ten seconds looking for sermon material to preach in church.

We are increasingly having to deal with the slithering teachings of people like Simmons (shown with homosexual bishop Vickie Robinson) who are importing false constructs into the church. Simmons’ doesn’t derive her conclusions from any honest and legitimate study of God’s Word, but rather hers is a mixture of religious and social ideology. As we have said before, its a major error in judgment and exegetical analysis to determine that silence equals consent and approval in the scriptures.

Thus, Simmon’s argument is nothing more than a contrived strawman. The issue isn’t, nor will it ever be, whether the bible addresses sexual orientation. The issue is a vain attempt to circumvent with worldly wisdom, God’s creative intent for human sexual expression. The fallacy of the argument can be proven with a logical application to a host of contemporary issues that are not expressly mentioned in biblical texts. But any true student and lover of the Word knows that the logos is infused with a supernatural ability to transcend time and culture.

Dunamis Word blog explains in much more detail why Simmons is being patently disingenuous in her attempts to justify homosexual behavior. Its odd how these so called religious scholars resort to such triteness of thought to convince people to believe against the will of God. Common sense would tell you that if a person has wrong feelings, it will produce wrong behavior. Homosexuality as evidenced 100% of the scriptures which mention it, is without doubt wrong behavior. If you allow God’s word to correct wrong feelings, motives, thoughts at the root of your wrong behavior, you’ll live a life pleasing to God.

Where the term originated. Homosexuals used to be called homosexuals who had a “sexual preference”. They found out that didn’t work. As a minority seeking more power and needing wider social acceptance, a more potent political identifier which deleted the idea that their behavior was a choice was concocted. So, it was changed it to “gay and lesbian”. Gay and lesbian was easier on the ear and opened a political and social door closed to “homosexuals”. This self identifying metamorphosis has been adapted by pedophile and polygamists too.

As gays and lesbians gained the political clout they needed to affect laws and social mores, other sexual minorities took note and clamored for some of the power sharing. A new term was needed to include everything not yet discovered in the pandora’s box. Hence, sexual orientation.

So the term sexual orientation is a fairly new etymological offering which has evolved to include a conundrum of sexual malfunctions outside the normal scope of male-female covenant relationships. Advocates claim a person’s sexual orientation is “fixed at birth”. But what’s very interesting about the sexual orientation theory is its selective application. While homosexuals and lesbians swear by it, they are still unwilling to include pedophiles. It was only in recent years that the “transgenders” got into the power circle after accusing the gays of hypocrisy.

What the bible says about our identity, emotions, thoughts and feelings
The bible says a great deal about our identity, emotions, thoughts and feelings. But all are oriented in respect to right relationship with God. In other words, with God as the source of right wrong, we learn what is and is not acceptable to him even if it involves the intangibles of our lives.

Jesus told his disciples that it was evil thoughts and motives which defile people causing them to act out what was on the inside, thus “defiling” him. Mark 7:15 There is nothing from outside a man that, entering into him, can defile him; but the things which come out of him, those are they that defile the man.

And He said, “That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man. For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: all these evil things come from within and defile the man.” vss 20-23

Look closely and you’ll see homosexuality.

Hebrews 4:15 – Our feelings matter to Christ, but only as identity with us in the struggle to overcome temptation and sin.

2 Cor 10:5 Any thought, feeling or vain imaginations, when in contradiction to the supremacy of Christ must be destroyed.

Jeremiah 7:24 Acting on one’s wrong feelings and thoughts are evil and cause a person to go “backward, not forward”.

Therefore if ” sexual orientation” is based on how one feels about themselves, Jesus and the bible significantly condemn any feelings, thoughts and actions which lead a person into ungodly activity.

What’s the intent of the term’s current usage?
The introduction of the phrase “sexual orientation” marked a watershed moment in our society. Finally homosexual activists and their allies had something in which they could conveniently insert just about any feeling or sexual behavior and call it “orientation”. It is an intentionally broad term because of the growing expressions of perversion needed a home and this provided it.

Planned Parenthood tells teens that “sexual orientation is the term used to describe whether a person feels sexual desire for people of the other gender, same gender, or both genders.”

The conventional gay wisdom is that you are what you feel. And no one can tell you what you feel is wrong for you. Typical postmodernist relativity stuff. As I asked a young gay man once who vigorously asserted to me that since he “felt” gay from the age of two, it was proof he actually was gay. I asked him if he’d felt like a pig since he was age two what would he be right now? Its silliness that doesn’t even qualify as logic.

You might be astonished to know that this type of shallow, illogical relativity has literally become “scientific” evidence upon which laws in this country are passed.

What implications does it have on the church?

Its dangerous and unbiblical for the church to adopt and include terms as “sexual orientation”. If the concept is biblical, then there is only one legitimate sexual orientation. God created man and oriented him sexually, emotionally and relationally to the woman. Thus any other attraction, emotion, feeling, behavior or the likes is illegitimate as it is rooted in fallen sinful nature.

Inclusion of such destructive terms continue to set the church at odds the divine plan of redemption. If sin can be justified with clever new phrases and “scholars” who sanctify the clever new phrases what will be the church’s message?

If our core message is not that man is hopelessly degenerate apart from the repentance and remission of sin, what is it that we will be teaching and preaching. Self help? Im ok, youre ok? All you need is a hug? No! Our core message is what distinguishes us from every other religion because it is the express reason Jesus Christ came, suffered, died and rose again. If we allow outside influences to dilute or change that message in the slightest, we stand to lose our identity.

GCMW note: Our friend and fellow overcomer Linda Jernigan, founder of Chicago-based Rescuing Homosexuals ministry, sent out this letter last week and I wanted to share it with GCM Watch readers. Its powerful and helps us to stay aware that through the redefinition and reapplication of terminology, our enemy is using the homosexual community to obfuscate God’s plan for gender identity. We should not adopt such terms and should help educate other saints to this tactic.

Are you aware of Satan’s plan to further expand homosexuality while curtailing the standards of God? To date, Satan has infiltrated our homes, educational and political systems, and our churches with pro-homosexuality propaganda. However, much to my amazement, he is currently attempting to redefine male/female and men/women; under the guise of the word “Gender.” Yes, you heard me correct!

In short, male/female refers to innate, biological characteristics (hormones, chromosomes, and genitalia) and men/women refers to gender (psychologically and culturally constructed which changes from time to time). To be blunt, under the current definition of male/female and man/woman it is possible (confirmed through psychologist and taught by professors) a man’s gender can be that of a woman. According to Gender Studies Theories and academic curriculums, the same is true of females. Simply because a person is biologically female does not automatically determine or define her as a woman; and, her gender could be classified as a man. In short, “Gender” is based on what you feel you are and not on what your body, which was designed by our sovereign God, declares you are! Our children, businessmen/women, future politicians, and fellow Christians are being saturated with this kind of demonic propaganda as they seek and pursue an education.

People, the word “Gender” is the new war we Christians must engage in! We must pray this word down and release the righteous, kingdom of God use of the word into the atmosphere. Just as the word “Tolerance” assisted the homosexual agenda and pushed our nation into compromise on foundational issues such as marriage (defined as a union between male and female), so does the word “Gender” carries the identical explosive, destructive probability if we do not attack this word sooner rather than later.

In addition, homosexuals no longer desire to be identified as a homosexual because, “It is an oppressive word.” But rather, they desire to be identified as, “same-gender loving” individuals. Yes, that phrase sounds nice and sweet but “same-gender loving” does not allow you to peek into the devastation that homosexuality breeds into the life of an individual, a family, a church, or a nation. There is nothing nice, sweet, or loving about homosexuality! From almost twenty years of personal experience I know homosexuality is filled with pain, torment, shame, embarrassment, and confusion. In addition, suicide rates among lesbians are twice as high in comparison to heterosexual women. Also, 30% of all suicide attempts among people between the ages of 15-24 are homosexuals; and, domestic violence is the third leading cause of death among homosexuals (behind AIDS and substance abuse) How loving does this sound? Can you see how homosexuals are using simple words to advance their agenda? In addition to advancing their agenda, Satan’s desire is to place the church under arrest in our communications (print and media), speech (verbal and nonverbal), and language (words).

In addition, saints, we must arise and become keenly aware of Satan’s devices. We have a mandate from God to UTTERLY DESTROY (Joshua 6:21, Exodus 22:20, 34:13, Deut 7:2…) any kingdom that attempts to oppose and defy the standards, laws, and principles of our God! And, we are to destroy them without apologies! Please know, I do not promote violence towards homosexuals or any group of people but we can confidently annihilate demonic forces that oppose the expansion of the Kingdom of God. In addition, I fully understand that God (and I) loves homosexuals but wrapped within His love is a way of escape that is absolutely extended toward homosexuals. Hallelujah!

I pray you will join me and refuse to accept and believe one can simultaneously be a male/woman or a female/man. Also, refuse to use the term “same-gender loving” when you identify homosexuals.

Two apostate denominations are pressing further into darkness and irreconcilable differences with the Word of God in their obsession to affirm homosexuality. In fact, the quickest route into apostasy is the affirmation of sexual perversion. To do so, one would be have to diminish or reject God’s Word. That’s exactly the path two self proclaimed US Christian denominations have taken.

In Chicago, the presiding bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America suggested that the Bible isn’t the last word on homosexuality. [source]

In a town hall meeting Sunday, Bishop Mark Hanson said, “the understanding we have of homosexuality today does not seem to be reflected at all in the context of the biblical writers.” Therefore, he said, Lutherans should consider more modern views on sexual orientation.

At its churchwide convention in August, the ELCA lifted its ban on partnered gay and lesbian clergy, prompting some traditional congregations to withhold funds and begin forming a separate denomination.

But Hanson insisted the ELCA can accommodate both views. In his words, “God is still speaking to us.”
He also suggests that more homosexual-friendly policies may help the denomination grow.

Hanson is in error. God has already spoken and his word will never change. The only thing the Lord is saying if he is saying anything at all to Hanson and his band of reprobates is to repent.

Hanson, like most false leaders, doesn’t hesitate to play the false unity card. However, Amos 3:3 brings to bear a critical question: how can two walk together except they be in agreement? If agreement means we must abandon the truth of God’s Word to stay together, then the only solution for those who believe in righteousness is to separate themselves. We would do well to remember the severity of agreeing with sin:

Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them. Romans 1:32

Meanwhile in Los Angeles, the ever-darkening Episcopal Church, described by some as “an enlightened religion”, seems to to be in competition with the Lutherans to see who can get darker, fastest. According to a CNN report, the denomination’s news service reported that the Rev. Mary Douglas Glasspool will become the second openly homosexual bishop in the Episcopal Church behind Vickie Gene Robinson who took office in New Hampshire in 2004, if she is consecrated.

In the face of such stunning heresy, the head of the Anglican Communion, His Weakness Rowan Williams manages only to issue web statements saying that the actions “raise serious questions”. Indeed, your weakness, they do. But apparently not serious enough to excommunicate anyone as the scriptures instruct us to do.

The Rev. Canon Kendall Harmon, canon theologian from the Diocese of South Carolina, said the election [of Glasspool] “represents an intransigent embrace of a pattern of life Christians throughout history and the world have rejected as against biblical teaching.”

It still amazes me that with all the open heresy in the Christian church in America, you’d think there would be at least some open rebuke coming from other so-called traditional denominations. Yet there are no press releases condemning the actions, no sermons on the dangers of apostasy, no conferences educating people about false teachers. What you will find is plenty of this and this. No wonder there’s so much biblical illiteracy among the sheeple. This is the dark ages, part two.

If there’s one thing that’s good about the appearances of Yvette Flunder it is that she is helping to identify these closet homosexual churches. That helps people who are sincere about their walk with the Lord to avoid these houses of ill repute like a plague.

The church’s pastor, Charles G. Hayes aka “Father Hayes” has been a fixture in the gospel music industry since the early sixties.

A Chicago pastor told GCM Watch, “Cosmopolitan is a church that has been around for years. The pastor is Charles Hayes, who has lived with a[nother] man for decades openly. Also, although its not necessarily taught, his church is based upon his choir and the choir is literally full of homosexuals, who in my estimation of things have no motivation or reason to want to repent. His church attracts (during musical events) some of the more prominent ‘christian’ homosexuals from the city, and the older ‘homosexual’ pastors in the city with similar congregations really respect him. His messages are very typical sometime borderline witchcraft.”

That’s exactly what all the church and choir profiles point to. A religious organization based on sensationalist gospel music devoid of any true connection with Christ or his Word. “The Cosmopolitan Church of Prayer Choir has recorded thirty albums and five single 45s over the past 40 years. Out of the thirty albums, one went GOLD (over 50,000 copies sold), and the others made the No. 1 spot on the charts around the world.”

As with much of what passes for “anointing” these days, we would do well to be reminded that “the gifts and calling of God are without repentance” (Romans 11:29). What that means is that what God has given humanity in the form of talent and ability is irrevocable i.e. it cannot be changed. It also means that although God is the giver of the gifts, it requires no relationship with God, neither is it an indicator of relationship with God.

What’s the danger? People who live on gifts and a “form of godliness” but never submit themselves to the Giver now, will be locked out of the possibility of relationship with him eternally. We’re not left in the dark about the consequences of that either.

“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’ Matthew 7:21-23 NIV

You can add “sangin’ in your name” to that list too.

Is this something Jesus worked out?

The church is mostly known for its gospel song “Jesus can work it out”. You can see Hayes and his choir demonstrating the latest churchified club moves as they sing their signature song. Sorry its so long. Watch as much as you can stomach.

Let the games begin! Or in the case with the current US president, let the games continue.

The Associated Press announced today that the Obama administration justice lawyers filed court papers Monday claiming the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), a federal marriage law, discriminates against homosexuals. In other words, gay marriage should be legal per the federal government.

The president issued a statement saying “Today, the Department of Justice has filed a response to a legal challenge to the Defense of Marriage Act, as it traditionally does when acts of Congress are challenged. This brief makes clear, however, that my Administration believes that the Act is discriminatory and should be repealed by Congress. I have long held that DOMA prevents LGBT couples from being granted equal rights and benefits. While we work with Congress to repeal DOMA, my Administration will continue to examine and implement measures that will help extend rights and benefits to LGBT couples under existing law.”

This is from the candidate who told Americans “I will tell you that I don’t believe in gay marriage… I believe in civil unions but it should not be called marriage.”

Sure, sir. Whatever you say. Justice Department spokeswoman Tracy Schmaler tried to defend the president’s defense of his offense against DOMA.

“The administration believes the Defense of Marriage Act is discriminatory and should be repealed,” said because it prevents equal rights and benefits.
“The Justice Department, she added, is obligated “to defend federal statutes when they are challenged in court. The Justice Department cannot pick and choose which federal laws it will defend based on any one administration’s policy preferences.”

DOMA (signed into law by Bill Clinton) is widely recognized as the only current barrier to homosexual marriage becoming law nation wide. Although Obama supporters have argued over and over that Obama is against gay marriage, it appears that pressure from homosexual activists has changed his mind or he was engaging in expediency lying from the very beginning.

If youre angry, hold on a minute and hear the other side of the story.

At the same time Obama is trying to destroy DOMA, he is defending DOMA. In June, DOJ lawyers also filed to dismiss a case of a gay couple who were challenging DOMA in court. Obama’s lawyers basically argued that the federal courts was not the right venue for the case to be tried in.

8.19.09 UPDATE

A mixed group of black civil rights, religious organizations and pastors have spoken out about Obama’s same sex marriages lie. I was wondering when someone from the black community would challenge him. The group calling itself Black Coalition against gay marriage, warned Obama in an open letter that he risked losing support of black church and various other bases which coalesced around his election.

BET reported that the group said Obama’s efforts to repeal DOMA will work at “cross purpose” against the alleged “pro marriage” stance he used as bait for many black church goers.

There is no full copy of the letter as far as I can tell yet. I will be looking to see exactly who signed it. I will wager that the signatories will not include a certain Pentecostal bishop appointed to Obama’s “faith based” hush money program.

Full story on BET.com

8.20.09 UPDATE

Americans for Truth posted an article on Obama’s real beliefs. Check them out. In 1996, Obama told a Chicago gay newspaper /quote/ I favor legalizing gay marriage and would fight efforts to prohibit such marriages /unquote/. Here is a copy of the paper where Obama answered the gay rights questionnaire.

I came out of my mother’s womb into the Church of God in Christ, so I am intimately familiar with COGIC pride which now to me is a surreal existence not unlike seeing a peacock in a zoo. There was a time when I would go to war to defend the “image” of the church and its “sainted” leaders. I was taught to defend COGIC’s leaders and image at all costs and I did because I was severely ignorant and believed what I was told. But the years and God have pulled back the curtains on the truth and for me and perhaps thousands of others who have awakened from our church-induced slumber and scripture based fear (touch not mine anointed) of speaking out against the latent evil being covered up in our birth church, we rejoice to see the day when holiness again becomes not a cliche but a lifestyle in the church.

That being said, here’s the story of one woman who experienced first hand what you are up against when you and your situation finds itself against COGIC’s cover-up culture. This poignant piece by Cherrie Mackey should stand as both a warning and a wake up. A warning to the wolves and sexual misfits roaming the church that heaven is shining a light on you and you will not escape God’s justice. A wake-up to every person in COGIC who knows but says nothing. Your fear and silence will help destroy the church Bishop Mason’s “Yes Lord” helped to build. Just like God destroyed the temple in Jerusalem the Jews symbol of national pride, he will also dismantle the symbol of COGIC’s pride. 100 years mean nothing to him when sin is tolerated in the camp. And running to St. Louis wont change anything. Trust that.

An Ungodly Silence
by Cherrie Mackey

As a born-and-bred (but now former) member of the Church of God In Christ, how do I begin to wade through the quagmire of alleged abuse detailed in the Dallas Observer’s February 23, 2008 “Bible Girl” section? What’s left to say about a man so obviously sin-sick and possibly even emotionally unstable? I could express my righteous outrage and indignation, but so what. I could verbally tar and feather him, but I’m sure that’s already being done. I could try to deconstruct his psyche in an attempt to understand all that transpired, but I’m afraid that would take more space (and education) than I have.

Rather than go any of those routes, I just want to ask a question: How in God’s literal name did this man ever get away with this?

Based on the allegations — which, by the way, I’m persuaded are true — how did such a seemingly perverse, delusional and damaged individual violate so many for so long? Exactly how did this sin prosper?

Don’t use up any extra brain cells trying to come up with an answer. I already have it: Good men stood by and did nothing.

Clearly blame belongs squarely on Allen’s shoulders for his own actions. That’s a given. But as a leader in a highly visible, well-respected, organized body of religion, where were the overseers of the overseers? Where were the regulations, reprimands and victims’ avenues of recourse?
Where was the spiritual discernment? This church was known for its “prophetic summits” — why didn’t any of the “prophets” discern that something was very wrong in the Allen/Shiloh camp?

Paul instructs us not to even dine at Red Lobster with those who are sexually immoral yet call themselves believers. How, then, can you explain the turned heads, averted eyes and coins-over-character mentalities that had to be present?

I partly blame the denomination. Yes, the grand ol’ Church Of God In Christ. You simply can’t defend a religious institution that shields abusers and criminals, actually providing them a haven of sorts to carry out their sick activities. Just ask the Roman Catholic Church. On the other hand, with a great respect and appreciation for my own roots in the Church of God In Christ and the many family members I have who are still affiliated with it, how can you completely disregard and discount an institution with such an auspicious beginning and rich spiritual history? (Bishop C.H. Mason and the Azusa Street Revival.)

I’m not sure how to square that all up, but I ask the question because I myself experienced exactly this type of ig’nint-on-purpose behavior by church officials, although it didn’t involve the same kind of abuse. I was once married to what is known in the denomination as a “minister of music,” and after only a short while in the marriage, he impregnated a fellow choir member while simultaneously being unfaithful with a local pastor’s daughter. You read that right. He had a girlfriend in a church down the street while one of his own choir members was carrying his baby — and his faithful (okay, clueless) wife was sitting at home praying for everybody.

We’ve heard this type of scenario before though, haven’t we? It’s not really new or surprising anymore. But here’s the salt in the already-gaping wound: when these circumstances were brought to the attention of our pastor — who I had previously admired, trusted and believed in as a man of integrity — he did nothing. Not only that, he already knew. The same man who had counseled us before we married, had us over for swims in his pool — that same good man seemed to take a boys-will-be-boys attitude and, to my knowledge, didn’t do a thing to remedy this sick situation.

You have to understand that being removed from ministry or “silenced,” especially in the wake of moral turpitude, is (or used to be) a strict guideline of the Church of God in Christ. As a teenager I can remember many a public testimony being shut down in mid-sentence because of a lifestyle that didn’t match what was being testified of. Yet my ex-husband was allowed to continue to serve not only locally but also on the state level in this denomination. He kept right on tickling the ivories and rocking the organ bench while the aiding-and-abetting pastor kept right on “hooping” and the enabling saints kept right on shouting.

You think it had anything to do with the fact that my ex-husband was, indeed, a very talented musician and that hell would freeze over before some Churches of God in Christ would go without their “shouting music”? If you do, then that means some innocent individuals were literally sacrificed on the altar of the Hammond B-3 just so the saints could keep dancing to the beat.

To my knowledge, the pastor never confronted or counseled my ex-husband. He certainly didn’t counsel or comfort me and I don’t know what, if anything, was ever said to the other women. I can almost guarantee, it was nothing.

It wasn’t just me and my circumstances, either. There were abusers and other marital infidels on his ministerial roster and he knew about them, too. And in at least one case, I personally know he did nothing.

I remember lying prostrate on my face, getting carpet hairs up my nose many a night. Crying out to God til’ I was literally hoarse. Putting ice packs on my eyes many mornings just to be presentable at work. It really was a nightmare. But personal pain aside, the thing that haunted me most was that question…”Why didn’t he do anything?” After all, the Church of God In Christ was supposed to be the bastion of holiness, the place that put a serious premium on righteous living to the point of legalism. Why didn’t my pastor do something?

No, I didn’t expect him to rescue me but I did think he would stand up for what was right. And lest you think I’m some namby-pamby who goes church-hopping after a tribulation or two — that wasn’t me. As a young woman I had always been active in the church, even up to the national level myself, and I had been approached and almost accosted by other Church of God in Christ men many times. As an attractive young Christian woman with a naive earnestness to serve the church and its leaders, I didn’t realize I was a goldfish in a barrel full of sharks. Traveling evangelists extending hotel-room invites, husbands winking and flirting, pastors passing illicit notes, hugs that lasted too long, leering and lascivious looks — sharks. But I always ignored them, chalked it up to the weakness of a few less-than-committed men, and kept on keeping on in Jesus’ name. So I was not without experience or a point of reference when it came to sexual harassment in the church.

Put those past experiences together with the illegitimate baby and girlfriend drama and I simply became sick of the whole patriarchal, bullying bunch of ‘em and at that point I started writing my own little book of “Exodus.”

After many tears, much praying and not a little anxiety, I unceremoniously left the Church of God In Christ.

So this is the way sin prospers — because we don’t challenge it. We don’t question it. We keep our mouths shut in the name of “not doing the prophet any harm.” Or, we allow ourselves to be intimidated by “you can’t judge me.” Or, the skeletons threatening to break down the door of our own closets have got their bony fingers around our necks in a chokehold.

I must admit, I was hesitant to even submit this commentary. Went so far as to discuss it with my current pastor because even though my experience was years ago, I didn’t want to “out” anybody. I had been conditioned, just as the Allen victims were, not to “put my mouth” on the men and women of God. But again, this is how sin thrives — when good people do nothing.

So let the chips fall where they may. I challenge you to challenge sin. All the time. Every time. Even if you have to start with yourself. By all means, start with yourself. If we don’t, the Sherman Allens of religion — not just of this denomination — will continue to shipwreck the lives of weak, vulnerable and hurting women and unlike me, some may never recover.

More gospel music industry workers are coming out and embracing the seductive heresy of gay theology (marketed as inclusive, progressive religion) as the church in America continues its overall slide into apostasy. GCM Watch has documented the fornication of black gospel music industry with homosexuality for quite some time and now its illegitimate children are coming of age. But does it matter?

The latest to sign up for a gay church gig: Campbell and Daryl Coley, a black gospel music industry worker who begin his career singing backup vocals for famed 70s drag performer “Sylvester”. Campbell and Coley appeared at the first conference of the United Progressive Pentecostal Church (click photo to enlarge) held in Atlanta mid June.

Sources told GCM Watch that former prophetess turned “empowerment” guru Juanita Bynum was present at a meeting of the same organization, but was unclear of her purpose there.

The UPPC as it is called, is an obvious scratch off name from the United Pentecostal Church (UPC), aping its apostolic doctrine and pentecostal church services but including a belief that homosexuality is acceptable sexual expression for Christians.

A Los Angeles music minister told GCM Watch he believes this is one of the crisis issues of today’s church.

“I think they [black gospel artists] are continually pushing the envelope. I can even see them coming to convocation to protest because they are gaining more emphathy in the church. And they feel justified. I’m just waiting for the day when a gospel artist will openly announce his or her same-sex marriage. I wonder what will happen then?”, said Rev. Rod Hines.

In a 2001 interview with GospelFlava, Coley decried the commercialism controlling gospel music.

“Sure it can be musical, it can be colorful, but it needs to maintain a separatism from what’s already out there. I think the industry, to be very frank, is embracing more commercialism than it is spiritual aspects. And I think it’s because those that are spiritual are not in charge. They finally realized that Gospel music is very marketable, they looked at the numbers and saw that millions were being made from Gospel. “

But shouldn’t Coley also recognize that the gay christian movement is under the control of something other than Christ? Perhaps all of this is just about a paid performance to them. If it is, then it should be called what it is: religious blackface shows.

Campbell is set to hook up with Vashawn Mitchell in August for yet another gospel music blackface show at Andre Landers church in the Atlanta area.

For those who think there’s nothing wrong with “ministering” at a gay church its a flagrant disobedience to the scriptures.
1 Corinthians 5:9-11
I wrote to you in my epistle not to keep company with sexually immoral people. Yet I certainly did not mean with the sexually immoral people of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or idolaters, since then you would need to go out of the world. But now I have written to you not to keep company with anyone named a brother, who is sexually immoral, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or an extortioner–not even to eat with such a person.
Some have claimed that if God says go, you should go. I would agree, but with several conditions. (1) We would need to first acknowledge that such individuals are living in open rebellion to the will of God (2) they are teaching false doctrine and leading others to hell and should be admonished to repent (3) acknowledge that God has never sent someone to such a group of people to enjoy VIP parties and get compensated yet no repentance occurs. What’s more the Word of God is clear: two people cannot walk together unless they are in agreement.

You should also read GCM Watch articles on other gospel/southern gospel industry workers at gay churches:

Very interesting development after heretic and former pentecostal false prophet Carlton Pearson assumed interim leadership of Christ Universal Temple in Chicago. Rev. Johnnie Coleman, the founder, retired three years ago. On May 4th, Pearson hyped his move coming in by saying he was “excited to move to Chicago and to join the Christ Universal Temple family.” He promised he would “make it a world class institution and take the ministry to new heights and assist people in living their best lives with a practical religious doctrine.” But just slightly over a week later, the church is in full rebellion against his appointment. Imagine that.

Rev. Roderick Norton called Pearson’s leadership an “insult”.

The new thought movement is a patently false version of Christianity which interprets the scripture through a universalist perspective and emphasize metaphysical beliefs. Pearson utilized elements of universalism in his own ridiculous “gospel of inclusion” heresy.

According to Religion News Blog over 1,000 members at the 6,000 member church signed a protest petition against Pearson’s leadership. Pearson expressed surprise that he would encounter such staunch opposition from both members and ministers alike. Especially in a church he considered a far cry from the “hateful fundamentalists” who rejected his heretical teachings.

“New Thought is not an exclusive group that demeans other movements and expressions,” Pearson said. “I didn’t expect to encounter this in New Thought once I moved away from fundamentalism.”

Graige Lewis of EX Ministries for the Life Changers Conference May 7-9 in Peoria, IL. If you live in the surrounding area, and want to join us to proclaiming God’s truth and galvanizing believers in proactive resistance to error, please click the thumbnail for more details. There’s no cost to attendees.

According to Pastor Harvey Burnett, organizer and host, the conference will be held at several different venues around the city and will address the following:

Homosexuality, lesbianism and the church’s response to the rising GLBT (Gay Lesbian, Bisexual & Transgender) church and cultural influence.

Teen promiscuity & violence, what you don’t know will hurt you.

Hip-hop inculturation and it’s devastation, dangers, influence and roots within post-modern churches and families.

Clergy and ministerial sexual abuse how to avoid it, report it, and actions that must be taken when it arises.

“Black Genocide” The effects contraceptive and on demand abortion on the landscape of our community.

The biblical view of the use of music and entertainment within the church.

The biblical reconstruction of the family. Providing sustainable solutions to the problems we now face.

The conference couldn’t come at a better time for Peoria. Last month, a city council member called gays a “protected class” as if they were some strange species of endangered animals. We lodged a complaint to the mayor’s office.

Gay Christian Movement Watch is seeking first hand accounts and personal narratives of several categories of individuals who have had personal experience with gay churches and organizations.

First, GCM Watch is seeking testimonials of former members of gay churches namely: Metropolitan Community Churches (UFMCC), any affiliate churches of The Fellowship (Bishop Yvette Flunder), Unity Fellowship Church Movement or any independent gay church. In addition, if you were part of an “affirming” or “inclusive” church, but left because you no longer accepted its false doctrines, please contact GCM Watch as soon as possible.

Secondly, if you have visited, but never joined a gay/affirming/inclusive church your personal narrative of that experience is also welcomed. Please tell us what you saw and heard.

Third, if you know of someone who fits the criteria above, forward this information to them and ask them to contact GCM Watch.

These personal narratives are being sought to provide a balanced and truthful counter to the lies currently being promoted by gay churches about biblical sexual morality. These organizations promise an overabundance of love, value and acceptance but what are they actually delivering to hurting and confused people?

Contact GCM Watch at gcmwatch@yahoo.com
