GCM Watch seeks former members of gay churches
Gay Christian Movement Watch is seeking first hand accounts and personal narratives of several categories of individuals who have had personal experience with gay churches and organizations.
First, GCM Watch is seeking testimonials of former members of gay churches namely: Metropolitan Community Churches (UFMCC), any affiliate churches of The Fellowship (Bishop Yvette Flunder), Unity Fellowship Church Movement or any independent gay church. In addition, if you were part of an “affirming” or “inclusive” church, but left because you no longer accepted its false doctrines, please contact GCM Watch as soon as possible.
Secondly, if you have visited, but never joined a gay/affirming/inclusive church your personal narrative of that experience is also welcomed. Please tell us what you saw and heard.
Third, if you know of someone who fits the criteria above, forward this information to them and ask them to contact GCM Watch.
These personal narratives are being sought to provide a balanced and truthful counter to the lies currently being promoted by gay churches about biblical sexual morality. These organizations promise an overabundance of love, value and acceptance but what are they actually delivering to hurting and confused people?

Exodus in name only?
Rik at Journal of a Battling Christian succintly analyzes the major problem with Exodus International, the nation’s largest organization focusing on homosexuality from a Christian perspective. But has Exodus become a “name only” organization?
The word exodus, biblically evokes imagery of millions of slaves being led out of bondage into freedom by Moses. But after a series of
,media appearances, books and magazine articles, one wonders whether Exodus is just another Christian oriented psychology club or is it one truly leading people out of homosexuality to a balanced life of pursuing holiness. Given its public presentations, its hard to distinguish.
After reading Rik’s post The weakness of Exodus International, I couldn’t help but wholeheartedly agree. Exodus is theologically deficient, if not starving altogether.
I left Exodus International because its foundation is flawed as it blends Freudian psychology with the Christian worldview. This is especially so in their avocation of Reparative Therapy. But the church in general offers little or no alternative and so many uneducated struggling Christians are running to the MCC for a false gospel.
Exodus’ theology is muddy in part because of its association with Christian socio-political groups like Focus on the Family and non Christian mental health groups like the National Association for the Research and Therapy of Homosexuality (NARTH). It fails to assert clear, biblical theology because of a growing sentiment to be more “tolerant” of homosexual critics of the organization without fully comprehending the demonic undercurrent. Compromise is a killer of truth. While the organization has a brief doctrinal statement, it rarely is communicated effectively to the doubtful public it often engages.
Internally, the failure to define itself and its goals biblically is resulting in a type of theological wind drift. In February, a ministry leader, Wendy Gritter did a guest column on the website of Exgaywatch, one of Exodus’ chief critics. The column followed her address to the Exodus conference where she seeded the same confusing ideology. The column was largely applauded, but only because it contained language palatable to homosexual activists who refuse to accept any idea that homosexuality is a sin which one needs to repent of.
Exodus President Alan Chambers acknowleged that he was “processing” Gritter’s ideas.
In the second post, she ventures out more at the urging of gay activists to admit “she could be wrong” about the Exodus message. While some balked at her assertions, she seems to be more inclined to give up her/Exodus’ beliefs in exchange for “common ground”.
Is gaining “common ground” with gay activists really worth selling out biblical truths about sin and sexuality? What would one get in exchange? A vicarious relationship held together only by muzzling truth? Gritter’s stance (and Exodus’ failure to publicly repudiate it) is more evidence of its theological immaturity. It is a serious doctrinal error to call someone who embraces, teaches others and publicly proclaims a sexually immoral lifestyle as a “brother or sister” in Christ.
“Truth be told”, she wrote, “I have had my ambivalence about maintaining an affiliation with Exodus because there can be such negative perceptions about them. There is a part of me that would want to take distance from that. On the other hand, I have sensed God leading me to stay and seek to engage positively and offer input towards a more “bridge building Exodus”. It will be interesting to see how things develop over the next year or so. I have made it clear that the time may come when New Direction may move beyond a formal relationship with Exodus.” [source]
What is disturbing about the Gritter affair with Exodus is the voiced sentiment that her proposed new direction is shared by many in Exodus field ministries.
Regrettably, we no longer endorse nor support Exodus until it can grow up theologically and be the leader it claims to be in its name. We encourage other pastors and churches not to refer people to this network until it can heal itself.

GCM Watch to gospel singer Kirk Talley: repent and choose
It wasn’t that long ago when we learned about Kirk Talley (pictured), one of southern gospel music’s “stars”. Talley had sung with all the genre’s top names and was celebrated in churches all across the country. Without a doubt, Kirk Talley was southern gospel music “royalty”.
Then, news broke that a man in Knoxville, TN attempted to blackmail Talley. Reports state the two met while searching for male sex online. The story’s publicity and Talley’s subsequent admission that he was homosexual set off a chain reaction which caused him to forfeit many of the lucrative singing engagements he had once enjoyed.
Placed under the care of a ”restoration team”, Talley suspended his career and set about to recover from his homosexuality. Less than a year later, on October 6, 2004 the “restoration team” announced that Talley was ready for a comeback. No one knows what the conditions of his “restoration” were, nor did the unnamed restoration team make public exactly what Talley had accomplished in order to be restored. That may have been a blunder simular to the one with Ted Haggard.
But GCM Watch has learned that things have indeed changed, although Kirk Talley is not being honest about those changes. Talley seems to be weaving his way into the gay christian movement while still performing at unsuspecting churches which are not aware of his new friends and their false doctrine. Talley is scheduled to perform in July at the Evangelical Concerned conference which describes the event as “a four-day retreat experience with gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender Christians.”
In September 2006, Talley was a guest speaker at an “exgay” conference in Macon, GA where he talked about how he changed after the blackmail episode.
In November, he appeared on James Robinson’s Life Today (interview transcript)show where he told Robinson,
I tell my story and my story only. I don’t get off into all the arguable points of the issue. I tell my story and my story only in hopes that somebody will not end up out on the sidewalk like I was, trying to…”
Robinson finished the line with ”…Have no choice but to go into this other lifestyle”[of homosexuality].
But just a year after the LifeToday appearance, Talley is becoming quite the fixture on the gay christian scene. Talley’s website makes no indication of why he has changed his mind about telling people they can overcome homosexuality. Is he being intentionally dishonest just to make money at the expense of people’s souls? His website —oddly enough— makes no mention of his upcoming appearance at the gay conference.
Talley, who won 2007 “Songwriter of the Year” at the Southern Gospel Music Awards, doesnt seem to mind people knowing that he is now very comfortable at homosexual churches. After all, the pictures are posted all over Flickr. What does this mean? Well, homosexual churches, unlike some so called “loving” Christian churches will not allow anyone opposed to their lifestyle to preach or sing in their churches. They possess zero tolerance while hypocrtically demanding to be “inclusion” in other churches.
GCM Watch encourages Kirk Talley to (1) repent (2) stop deceiving pastors and churches and (3) obey the scripture:
Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? And what communion hath Light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the Temple of God with idols? For ye are the Temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.” (2 Corinthians 6:14-16 KJV)
Should Kirk Talley refuse our call to repentance, we ask that he have the decency to call every church on his performance list and tell them he no longer shares their biblical views concerning homosexuality. Give them the choice as to whether they want someone spreading false doctrine through song in their churches.
We will be watching.
Exposed: Saints are you awake yet?
We have several items to report to you. This is a rather lengthy post, but the false prophets are working in overdrive. We have learned that gospel music luminary Beverly Crawford, who launched her career with Bobby Jones, is responsible for the career of gcm activist Tim Dillinger. A gay christian from Exgaywatch articulates why the gcm is nothing more than a heresy revival. Soulforce is on the prowl again, with plans to visit TD Jakes’ Potters House among others. G. Craige Lewis’ latest post connects the dots between the false prophets, their false lifestyles and their tricks to strip you of your money, salvation and God-given potential. Saints, are you awake yet?
Fear of the Bible? Said a gay christian at exgaywatch:
I do not believe, however, that we are to take the Bible and use it as a weapon. It is for that reason I accuse those who do so as “Biblists” because they use only the Bible as their source, leaving out reason and love and compassion which are more powerful gifts God has given us than a written text. A Christian who only relies on the Bible as a source for beliefs – gay or straight – is not a Biblist per se in my definition so long as they use other sources for their understanding of God’s message – reason, love, and compassion among other gifts. A Biblist is one who uses the Bible in such a way as to demoralize and destroy others – as well as placing the Bible above God him/herself, making God chained and bound to what has been written in the sacred texts.” (our bold)
Love, reason and compassion are more powerful gifts than the Word of God? That’s right out of the antinominian heresy manual which elevates spirit above scripture. It allows an individual to conveniently opt out of God’s moral laws because of self defined love. What does he believe is the source of love reason and compassion? This is precisely why the gcm will remain in a dark, spiritual stupor because they continually reject the only source of truth, God’s Word. Without it, one cannot be free (John 8:32).
News is getting out that Soulforce’s tactic of so-called nonviolent visits to Christian schools has mutated and they are planning to show up en masse at six selected “megachurches” to ask them “can we talk”? Churches on the list include:
- Rev. Joel Osteen and the Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas
- Bishop T.D. Jakes and The Potter’s House in Dallas, Texas
- Bishop Harry Jackson, Jr. and Hope Christian Church in Beltsville, Maryland
- Bishop Eddie Long and New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Lithonia, Georgia
- Rev. Bill Hybels and Willow Creek Community Church in South Barrington, Illinois
- Dr. Rick Warren and Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, California
All of the churches, except Hope Christian Church have leaders who are steeped in controversial, if not false doctrines of some sort. So its understandable why Soulforce would target the ones who are most open to their “visit and talk”. They actually praised Joel Osteen’s mass motivational church approach. Soulforce has added some teeth to this venture by partnering with the National Black justice Coalition, Rev. Kenneth Samuels of Atlanta (who damaged the original pre-Eddie Long, New Birth with his false teachings on homosexuality) and Jay Bakker the cool, hip false prophet son of Jim and Tammy Faye. We wonder what would happen if large groups of Christians opposed to homosexuality started showing up at gay churches for a “talk”? Can someone say homophobia?
Of the meetings, blogger Matt Green accurately predicts, “Unfortunately, if history is any indicator, the leaders of some of these churches will lapse into sentimental platitudes, neither satisfying Soulforce’s desire for affirmation nor confronting the sin of homosexual behavior and extending the offer of salvation by grace through faith–thereby squandering the prophetic platform God has given them in our culture.”
If you are black and know anything about black gospel music, you’d know Beverly Crawford is at the top of the heap. Her over-the-top pentecostal energy propelled her as a standout on the Bobby Jones Gospel Show. She eventually went on to establish herself as a major personality within that industry. She is now a minister at TD Jakes and Company in Dallas. But she also seemed to have picked up Jones’ nefarious connection with homosexual affirmation. Tim Dillinger, who describes himself as a “queen”, wrote of how Crawford helped nurture him along even while he was admittedly homosexual. Once again, it shows how perverted the gospel music industry’s leaders, movers and shakers are to elevate talent over righteous living. How can such perverted theology produce righteous music representative of a Holy God? What a dirty, dirty treasonous slap in the face to our Holy God. After using the church to get recognition as a gospel singer, Dillinger left to be an R&B singer.
Finally, G. Craige Lewis of Dallas writes on his blog:
The black church is imploding. It’s blowing up from the inside out. No terrorist bomb needed, no plan of the devil needed, no assistance from hell needed. We are allowing those that lead the church to tear it apart for their own selfish gain and we are saying nothing. We won’t call names when we should. We won’t stand up when we should. And we are following what we know to be wrong as if it was right! We are too afraid to read the signs. We don’t want to add this up and come up with a figure in the end. We don’t want to know what’s really happening because it’s too scary. We want to sit in the pews and clap, sing, and give offering without questioning motives, intent, or what is right before our eyes.
I’m not questioning their lifestyles in secret, I’m telling you that what they are doing in the public eye will always expose their their hidden agenda. When a person does things in the public eye that are contrary to the Word or Holiness, they are sending a message that they don’t care what you think or what the bible says about it because they want to shift public opinion in their favor. What these folks are doing in plain view and don’t mind you knowing, is the nail in the coffin. This means they feel they are right and you better get with them or get crushed. Wow. 2007 exposed a bunch of folks motives and 2008 will be even worse. Pray for the church people. Pray. And after you have prayed and fasted, ask God to show you what is real!”
I will emphatically add one thing to Lewis’ passioned plea. After you have prayed, do something! Tell somebody so they are not led into hell by these pied piper demons. We do not post this information for you to gawk at, laugh over and gossip. This is just like the sexual offender registries that are now commonplace. People need to know who and what are threats to their spiritual well being so they can take action and protect themselves.
