I have been mega busy as of late and though I love writing as often as possible, my engagements have slowed that to a crawl.

To that end, I want to invite you to come out of your closet (to all the gcmwatch lurker readers) and put something on the table for discussion. Its an open book so whereever you open the page to, we’ll take a stab at it. Get on your soapbox, open your book and talk about it. Even gratuitous self promotions! lol

If something newsworthy comes up, I will post a blurb here.  Standard commenting rules apply.

Open forum time. Lots of people want to talk about lots of things off topic. So here’s your opportunity to speak your mind. To kick off Open Forum XI, let’s see what you think about heaven, hell and people who die.

Generally, when somebody [famous] dies, people are quick to teleport them into heaven.  Death seems to jumpstart the whole issue of whether we (as the Body of Christ) know or don’t know where a person will spend eternity. GCM Watch looked at this earlier, but its time to revisit it again.

Currently, the argument(s) goes something like this:

Nobody knows whats in a person’s heart, therefore a person could repent at the moment before they die and get into heaven. Only God knows if a person will go to heaven or hell.

But is that true? Are we completely in the dark about a person’s final destination after they take their last breath? And if we can’t know about a person’s after death destination, then are we expected to know our own? If we dont know where a person will spend eternity, then why is heaven always the default? If we are so sure about heaven, why all the doubt about hell?

Its been a quite a while since our last open forum. But its back.

We’ve had quite a few  commenters who wanted to talk about things like slavery, biblical interpretations, Christians who judge too much and a mix of other things that just didnt meet the focus muster of certain posts. Hopefully if they really wanted to educate us on it, they’ll come back around.

Now’s the chance to speak your mind and make your case on topics from A to Z.  Nothing (as long as it is from A to Z) is off limits, however please be aware that all normal commenting restrictions apply.

I’d like to kick it off by asking what comparisons (if any) do you think there are between Bush’s Katrina and Obama’s BP oil disaster?

That is the question. Ive been tagged for jury duty this week so I may or may not be posting. But that shouldn’t stop you from speaking your mind.

I will be traveling and unavailable for the next few days, but a great question by “Drillsgt” will become the lead topic of our 8th open forum. Here it is. Personally, I think that I and others on the blog have answered this in great detail over the last two years, but perhaps it may be time for a more succinct discussion.

Question for GCMW and All:
1. Other than tolerance of Homosexuality, what other sinful topics or behaviors do you see the church participating in?
2. Do you see this same sinful behavior at the churchs that you attend regularly?
3. How do you feel that this topic relates to the different denominations within the church ie.(Baptist vs. Apostolic vs. Catholic etc?
